A process designed specifically to destroy British farming. Through incompetence or malice, doesn't matter which.
All so that Britain is no longer self sufficient on food.
Minimum wage in 2005 was £5.05 an hour.
A Freddo cost 10p.
One hour of work bought you 50 Freddos.
In 2026, minimum wage is £12.71 and a Freddo is 39p.
One hour of work now buys you just 32 Freddos.
So despite minimum wage more than doubling, your Freddo buying power has fallen by 36%.
If wages had actually kept pace with Freddo inflation, minimum wage would be £19.65 an hour today.
Forget economists. Forget politicians.
The Freddo has just delivered the most depressing cost of living graph you'll ever see.
Google is testing a new reCAPTCHA system that asks users to make simple hand gestures in front of their camera instead of solving image puzzles.
When used, the browser requests camera permission and records a short video of the user’s hand movements.
According to Google, it does not record audio and deletes the video after the check is complete, don’t believe them.
The new method aims to stop bots and AI tools that have become better at solving traditional CAPTCHAs. By verifying real hand movements, Google hopes to make it harder for automated attacks to create fake accounts or abuse websites.
Google says hand-gesture verification is an optional feature and will not replace existing image and audio challenges.
I spent years turning a silly animation idea into a full game.
Now, you can literally play as a Spinosaurus parrying giant bosses with a colossal greatsword.
Dinoblade drops next month on PC!
The reason this story is doing big numbers is because it hits a nerve and it tells us something wider about modern Britain.
Get up and go types and do gooders like this chap are discouraged and even - as in this case - punished by petty authorities. There is such a morass of laws and regulations that doing something as simple as trying to clean up your local area is increasingly being made to feel more hassle than it’s worth because you fear breaking some rule or other. We saw this also with those scrubbing graffiti off the Tube. One can’t help but think authorities feel threatened by these people because they are showing them up in failing to do their job
@Mia1447613@W3ND1G0x The shaming and after life punishment "threat" is about detering though, so taking away the peer pressure to not do it would be an incredibly foolish idea.
Why would you want to remove 1 of the attempted protections from a terrible decision?
@Jenny_1884 There are adverts, just not during the show. I don't see how a five minute break for the show makes a difference to the extent it need to be funded under penalty of the law.
you can't watch memes until 16, but you can sterilize yourself at 11
you can't carry a swiss knife, but you can carry a "ceremonial" dagger if you are sikh
you get arrested for a tweet but let go with a warning for gang rape
at this point the uk is a fourth world country
They don't want people to figure out that if they just get off their arse they can fix their own community in 2 weeks. They want you to keep paying them taxes so they can fix your community for you. In 3 years. Maybe. Probably not.
@elliehodges62@Iromg Is Reform not capable of standing on their own? Do they need to make excuse after excuse? Why not focus on doing what people want instead of pointing fingers?
I understand why she believes this is romantic. It serves her interests best. Devotion and slavery from one party, with no obligation to give anything in return.
It would be like saying the best economic situation is giving me billions for free and expecting nothing in return.
@gerryoliver1 That act is what first turned me off Farage, I wanted to vote for him in 2019 but due to that stunt I abstained instead.
I don't want my options to be further limited than what they already are, if Rupert did something similar I'd be gone from supporting him too.
He’s a National treasure.
As Funny as any comedian.
Doesn’t give a fuck who he insults.
The best tv personality to ever live for me.
Top gear, grand tour, clarksons farm, speed, the war documentaries and everything else in between. Brought so much joy to so many people!
The fact that people were raised being told our whole lives that you should never ever give your personal information out to strangers on the internet, and now suddenly it's no longer an issue just baffles me.
It's like everyone forgot what cybersecurity is and why we had it
I used to admire Alex Phillips for the way she spoke up about how migrant men often threaten women’s safety when it was highly controversial to say the truth.
But with each of these rants she comes across as even more unpleasant, entitled and egotistical. It’s really disappointing that she acts like this then calls anyone who criticises it sexist. You can’t repeatedly have aggressive, emotional meltdowns on TV and act like the victim when people call you out for it.
The most romantic thing a man can express to a woman is that even if she never has sex with him again, he wants to be with her forever. Because his love for her as a person transcends any animal urge.
This is even more romantic if he has a high sex drive.
