Jonah Tong kicks off the 2026 10k club.
4/14 Tong 10k
He also was the 1st to go 10k in '24.
He led the org last year going 10k 5x.
Tied the org lead in '24 4x (w Manaea).
Long distance runner!
This is his 10th 10k (broadcast had it at 11, but pretty sure its 10)
Wyatt Hudepohl moved from IL7 to IL60, spot recently opened when Austin Brown was activated.
Hudepohl has already been on IL for over 60 days... was able to appear in 3g out of ST but the '23 4th rd pick must have had a setback, IL'd 4/21, last game 4/17.
IL60 back to 15
NY rolling with:
F: Scott
Sat: Manaea (4 days) (not using the off day for 5th day, skipping Senga)
Sun: McLean (4d)
Mon: Peralta 4(d)
either a true move to the pen for Senga or pushing him to Tues v KC on 8days.
@cdreyfuss96 Sounded like they wanted to try him in the pen, different leverage spots.
Tuesday for Syr would be Thornton, but he'd be within the 15 day window til 7/11.
Fri 7/3
NY: Scott
Syr: Curry
Bin: Gordon
Bk: Hawkins (0.96 ERA/ 0.75WHIP as SP in 5gs)
SL^: Tilly (on 8 days if he's ok)
F^: Pena/ Stiltner (Herget)
DO^: Harvey
DB: Pina
7/2 Thurs
Syr: Tong
Bin: Austin/ Green
Bk: Chirinos
SL^: Tilly (Nunez at some point)
F^: Lohman (LR Rod/ Pena)
DO^: Harvey (Rochin on turn and swapped to DO)
DB^: A Montero (newly swapped, available) (or Pina/Osoria)
Gerber's injury (blister) leaves them in a pickle.
Only RPs:
Duarte couldn't get out of the 1st yesterday, 4r.
Myers struggles detailed.
Ross ERA at 10.
Pintaro & Carrillo injured, IL7.
40 man at 38, but Robert & Polanco soon come.
I think cut Carrillo or Oliva, debut Ben Simon.
@JohnFromAlbany@stluciemets speaking of SL roster page fwiw...
Scanlon is a 1B, 5g 1B/ 1g RF, 0g at C
He's 6'4, though college & Indy was catcher.
Maybe later, they have 3 other on the roster.
FCL win came against Freida who was a Met on paper, signed as UDFA cut offseason, 0g w NYM affs, but glad he caught on somewhere.
To that end, Bk faced Gomez & Marsh yesterday:
3 runs off Gomez; late start, not going well ~ 27 ERA (Cuevas/Voit HRs)
1.1 perfect for Marsh: 4.20ERA
Lohman recovered after a bumpy 1st:
4ip
8k/1w
1hb/1wp
2er 5h
they gave him 6 days rest, ace treatment, similar to Jace Hampson last year; so can see him as a promotion to SL later this month potentially.
Backed by Brown indeed; pro debut off IL60, ip 2k.
Lugo 2 scoreless ip
@JohnFromAlbany@stluciemets yeah he's been going 1inn in his rehab. figured he'd go once he moved his rehab up a level. probably opening for an inn.
Will be good to see him on tv finally, cant say i recall the 5ip from '23 in SL
@JohnFromAlbany its a 7 day stay unless there is a *need*, but in practice often see 3 day stints too.
maybe they classify it as workload mgmt, but he only threw 19 pitches the other day, not like 45 like he can.
@JohnFromAlbany they must have decided his exit was not due to injury but to shape/fatigue otherwise dev list over IL is an odd choice.
carried him active last time.
@JohnFromAlbany SL fixed it: roster now says "rehab" not "active".
makes sense to keep it under that umbrella for sure, just they changed the wording on roster and transaction pages
Won't be LRRod in FCL, he just got sent to SL.
There is (what new) a discrepancy between roster pages if he is activated off IL and sent there (SL shows "active" not 'rehab' OR if continued rehab (Bk still shows IL7).
@JohnFromAlbany
@rwagner02797955 his splits are relatively even...
he has a chance to debut this year still, if they trade 2 lhrp which i think seems likely w both expiring.
also think its funny he as like: free at last after R5 to TB then got returned, lol. his injury/ rehab took v long
Rochin went 4ip
Backed by J Perez.
Both DSL games are in a Lazy Lightnin' delay.
DO was going to be a 7inn game, in top 6, up 11-2.
DB 9inn g, B6th down 5-3.
Osoria went 3ip as well.
@rwagner02797955 think we just saw Lavender get leapfrogged by Yan today.
Just as a fan, I don't really enjoy Lavender, the hesitation & other tricks to throw off hitters, all well and fine but I prefer to see attack the zone than gamesmanship.
I didn't like Stroman/Bassett types either though
