I want to say thank you for trying to do your best and that I apologize if I took my frustrations out on you. Just as the actions of one don't represent the community, the actions of others don't represent you. I'll strive to do better as well and hope for the best.
I deleted the post I made about the hate art.
It was one I made in anger and frustration and does not represent these communities as a whole.
One person being ugly doesn't deserve the attention or to be taken to represent those communities.
I'm sorry for being reactive to it
Cleaning up my account here and locking it down indefinitely. While I was fine never seeing the site and using a third-party app to post notifications here, even that's not enough separation in light of recent events.
@paddingpacker And yes, I know we're not given the best of choice when it comes to voting... but let's be real. We're never going to be given that. It's still our responsibility to each other to vote for a candidate we feel confident in.
I keep saying I feel out of touch with the furry fandom but lately I find myself questioning if it's me or the fandom that's out of touch.
I guess we forgot about what happened when we voted for Harambe back in 2016 and want to find out again.
@paddingpacker Sure, it may not have changed anything but I refused to shrug my responsibility to voice my opinion out of protest. Protest isn't about fighting when you're going to win, it's about voicing your opinion regardless of the outcome.
@plushswiftfox I understand the exhaustion too... but you know what sucks more than being here every 4 years? Being here every 4 years and seeing people make stupid choices and devalue the importance of voting. Flawed or not, voting is important and shouldn't be taken or discarded lightly.
@plushswiftfox Yes, there were a lot of problems with the 2016 elections and one of them was people throwing away their vote. I'm not saying we can't joke about the election, I'm saying we shouldn't joke about throwing away our vote, especially when doing so could have serious ramifications.
@plushswiftfox Sure, it's nice they understand but not everyone does as this person clearly demonstrates. Their post, as an influencer, can influence people like this to throw their vote away 'for fun'... and our rights. That's the problem. It's already happened back in 2016.
@PaddedSillyCat Plenty, actually! I'm not a big party guy but I like to make sure people are having a good time and am often trusted with that.
When it comes to my rights and the rights of those I care for, I don't play around. Sometimes, you gotta stop partying and take things seriously.
@poofymammoth Well I'm glad they didn't make light of one of the most potentially significant political events in our life time and didn't influence others to do something stupid to get their favorite streamer's attention... because people don't do that or throw their votes away for memes!
@plushswiftfox Not 'luckily'... The joke IS the problem. Not taking our ability to vote and the ramifications of such seriously is the problem. Do we seriously need a repeat 2016 to figure that out?
Has social media seriously made us this out of touch?
@JossRickard Yeah, they voted properly but even joking about this is unhinged. I absolutely know some of their followers are going to actually do this for 'recognition' or some arbitrary reason...
@kupokupia There's no other posts from that person and what they said in that one post is what I addressed. This person chose to insert themselves into the conversation and that's why I said what I did.
"-someone's always got to come out of the blue and escalate matters to the Nth degree."
While my last journal post on FA was in reference to the situations regarding FA's administration and their decisions, this message wasn't only intended for FA's administration.
Let me make it clear. It doesn't matter who wronged who first, respect is a mutual agreement.
@kupokupia The entirety of the story is present and public. Additionally, the comment shown came from an account specifically made to harass Sciggles. If it seems like it came from no where, it did.
The only thing I did was blur the account name to avoid bringing attention their way.
@CrySciggles @Sciggles I'm trying to fight for mutual respect, civility, and fairness and you piggy back off of that, maliciously harassing people and trying to make things worse. I don't care what your justification is, you are far worse of a problem than anything Sciggles is involved with. Do better.
No, it's not right but neither is the persecution they're facing and protesting against. When the FA administration made it clear they didn't respect the AB/DLs in their community, what incentive does anyone have to be respectful back? You can't blame a victim for punching back.
@CrySciggles @Sciggles All I wanted to do was point out the art in question was done in protest because I felt the claims that the artists was pushing their fetish on others was taken out of context and unfair. I try to be respectful and civil but there's always someone like you that shows up.
