Paradigm Initiative condemns, in the strongest terms, the actions of the Government of Zambia that have now led to the cancellation of RightsCon 2026 that was set to hold in Lusaka, Zambia, from May 5.
We are working with our partners to release a joint statement but are sad that a global event that was coming to Sub-Saharan Africa for the first time was disrupted under worrying circumstances that touch on Zambia’s own commitments and obligations.
We express solidarity with our partner, @accessnow at this time and extend the same to thousands of colleagues from all over the world who are either already in Lusaka, are in-flight at this time, or were set to arrive over the next few days.

On today's episode of Uhaki Radio Show, our paralegal team hosted Yvonne Acha from the Legal AID Desk at Kibra Law Courts, providing vital legal services while engaging our community in insightful discussions on the Children's Act and child protection measures.
Today at Uhaki Radio, we had an incredible session of cross-border learning and community empowerment. The Nubian Rights Forum was honored to host fellow human rights defenders all the way from the Council for Minorities (CFM) Bangladesh at the @PamojaFMradio studios.
It was a powerful exchange of ideas, as we compared the experiences of minority communities and the vital role of paralegals in bridging the gap between the law and the people. From Kibra to Dhaka, the struggle for identity, citizenship, and justice remains a shared journey.

Today, on the International Day for the Right to the Truth concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims, we proudly celebrate the dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment of Paralegals across the world.
You stand at the frontlines of justice bridging the gap between victims and the law, documenting truths that others seek to bury, amplifying silenced voices, and restoring dignity to those who have suffered unimaginable violations.Your tireless work in communities, your courage in the face of adversity, and your passion for truth and accountability remind us that justice is not just a courtroom battle it is a daily act of solidarity and hope.
Thank you, Paralegals. You are the quiet heroes defending the right to truth and the dignity of every victim. We see you. We honour you. We stand with you.
A very fruitful day in Wajir as we welcomed @NamatiKenya and A team from council of minorities from Bangladesh. We had a productive discussion with community ambassadors on importance of legal identity and the vital role of ambassadors in community empowerment. Great experience.
"Digital identity should make people's lives easier, not harder," is a warning that systems that fail to match real-world human realities risk alienating the very people they are supposed to help. In Kenya, this is especially true for projects such as Huduma Namba/Maisha Namba.
Without a conscious design for inclusivity, strong data protection controls, and significant community involvement, digital ID systems can exacerbate existing barriers for Nubian and other minority groups that already suffer systematic barriers to getting formal identity credentials.
True digital transformation must prioritize human rights, eliminate exclusion, and create trustworthy infrastructure that serves everyone fairly, rather than becoming tools of surveillance or discrimination. The Forum continues to advocate for any national digital identity framework that protects dignity, privacy, and access for all Kenyans.
