Where has all this obsession with “respect” taken us as a nation?
We have turned respect into a tool for enforcing silence, hierarchy and blind obedience. And honestly, it’s one of the problems holding our society back today.
Nigerian conservatives have finally found their villain. 😂
The same people who cannot respect their own neighbours are now holding court over how a grown woman should bow and scrape before another adult.
The hypocrisy is almost as embarrassing as the worship of hierarchy.
The “Oyinbo life” argument gets even funnier when you remember that “Sir” is also a Western form of address. 😂💔
So calling him Tony is Oyinbo, but calling him Sir is African?
We really need to have this conversation properly. 😂
Tony Elumelu: “I don’t subscribe to Oyinbo life.”
Tony Elumelu: wearing a suit, running a multinational corporation and speaking English.
But apparently the real Western influence was someone calling him Tony. 😂
Investigative journalists, please put me on!!!!!!!
I don’t even have a lead yet, but I’m more gingered than ever. I want to dig, investigate and uncover something. Somebody give me a starting point! 🔥
I’m beginning to wonder if IGP Disu has developed something of a personality cult within the police force.
I’ve seen the Rivers CP mention his name and then go into unusually detailed praise of his qualifications, beyond what you’d normally expect.
Maybe it’s nothing 🤷♂️
Stop exploiting us. Stop interfering in our politics. Stop treating our resources as yours and our own leaders must stop selling our interests for personal gain.
If we were serious about truth, the Catholic Church’s own apologies for its historical wrongs should have made Christians question the institution they follow. At the very least, it should make Catholics reconsider their loyalty.
This is the kind of involvement we should encourage from more public figures. Don’t just tweet about Nigeria when it is trending. Show up. Observe. Speak. Participate.
Your influence should mean something beyond entertainment.
Davido has shown other Nigerian celebrities what using influence responsibly can look like.
During the Osun election, he was physically present and monitoring the electoral process, while also using X to keep people informed.
There was a time in this country when police were on the roads harassing people for not wearing face masks over a virus whose presence and actual spread in Nigeria were heavily disputed.
Think about that for a moment.
Mr. President, this was your vision.
How well do you think you’ve delivered on these promises?
Nigerians deserve an honest scorecard.
@officialABAT#Nigeria#Accountability
It’s hard to admit, but no matter how you look at it, fraud is wrong. Government failure may explain why some people turn to it, but it can never justify harming innocent people.
@just_ochuko2 I don’t disagree that politics shapes laws. My point is that once those laws exist, institutions are meant to ensure everyone, including those in power, obeys them. Strong democracies don’t eliminate politics. They prevent political power from becoming absolute.
Foreign influence can hurt a nation, but it cannot excuse decades of failed leadership.
The countries that succeed build institutions stronger than politicians.
Nigeria’s revolution begins the day the law becomes more powerful than the people in office.
