You cannot "park money in the stock market." That's not how stock markets work. When you buy stock, the money doesn't get locked in a vault. The seller gets it, leading to one of three outcomes:
1. The seller spends the money.
2. The seller is a corporation issuing new shares to raise capital to invest in expansion.
3. The seller invests in another stock or bond, adding another link to a chain that ends in one of the above.
In non-recessionary conditions, essentially 100% of the money that you invest, relative to a counterfactual where you consume it, is channeled into real investment, which improves productivity and real standards of living.
@thebeautyofsaas this is just cope. no amount of hard work is gonna make me a von neumann or ramanujan, or euler, or anything of the sort. iq pill, some people are simply more capable than others.
"But it's so simple! All I have to do is divine from what I know of you-- are you the sort of man who would choose a hotter picture when she's 17? A clever man would choose the picture in which she's less hot, because only a great fool would reach for what is in front of him, so I clearly cannot choose the picture in which she's less hot. But you must've known I'm not a great fool, you would have counted on it! So I clearly cannot choose the picture where she's hotter."
"You've made your decision then?"
"Not remotely! Because Watson was born in Paris, as everyone knows! And Paris is entirely peopled with nonces, and nonces are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, and so I clearly cannot choose the picture in which she's hotter."
"Truly, you have a dizzying intellect."
"Wait til I get going! Where was I?"
"Paris"
"Yes, Paris. And you must have suspected I would've known Watson's origin, so I can clearly not choose the picture in which she's not as hot."
"You're just stalling now"
"You'd like to think that, wouldn't you!"
In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
My roommate sexually assaulted a girl in our college friend group. It became the talk of her sorority for weeks. A girl I dated in the same sorority must have felt like she wasn’t getting any attention. So, she told everyone that I beat her multiple times when we dated. I was ostracized from my entire friend group right as senior year began. I never got to share my side of the story.
2 years after college, she texted me that she “felt guilty” lying to everyone, apologized and wanted to make amends.
Glad you got to clear your conscious Madison. I’ll never get back my senior year of college.
And for the record, I moved to a different apartment after I found out what my roommate did.
