Her name is Karyann Parkinson and she is probably the furthest thing from an "unfit mother" you will ever meet.

She has a degree in family science. She was a family life educator. She spent three years as a live-in behavioral specialist caring for 35 troubled girls. Her husband is a family therapist.

They moved to Virginia so she could go to William & Mary LAW SCHOOL.

This past June, eight months pregnant and studying for the bar, she took her boy Sam on their usual bike ride to the pond.

When they got home, he asked to walk back for more feathers.

Just a half-mile walk home on a sidewalk with ten feet of grass between him and the road.

Two crosswalks he'd used hundreds of times, inside a gated neighborhood with 24-hour security and a 25 mph speed limit.

She said yes, and she made lunch.

A stranger saw a kid walking and called security.

The guard marched Sam home and told this 5-year-old that his mommy did something wrong

His mother says it "scared the crap out of him."

Then the guard called the cops. Then the cop called backup.

Within minutes: THREE police cars. Three officers. A security vehicle. Two CPS workers. All at one mother's front door.

For a kid walking home on a sidewalk

CPS told her husband, "a 5-year-old child can never be unsupervised."

Never. Not for one minute. Not in a gated community. Not on a sidewalk.

That is the government's position on YOUR children.

They put her on the child abuse and neglect registry.

Seven years.

They charged her with "contributing to the delinquency of a minor."

A charge meant for parents who let their kids do drugs and skip school.

Last week, a judge convicted her and she got six months in jail, suspended and a permanent criminal record.

She can likely never volunteer at her kids' school again.

She may never be allowed to practice law.

What are we doing here????

Kids used to walk to school ALL THE TIME.

I used to ride bikes with my friends until till the streetlights came on... no one ever knew where I was and it didn't matter because this WAS AMERICA.

Miller: “No. I’m rejecting the marketing dictionary. You change the word, then accuse anyone who uses the legal term of being ‘inhumane’. It’s the oldest trick in the book: first soften the vocabulary, then declare moral victory. The United States is tired of this theater. Call it what it is. Or admit the goal was never clarity—it was narrative control.”

And how does New York thank them?

White 56-year-old husband and father Fredrick Lytton was working alongside Black 23-year-old Devin Rice at a U-Haul facility in West Nashville.

You already know how this ends.

The two men were reportedly arguing about a soda when Fredrick Lytton turned and walked away from the verbal dispute, returning to his work station. Moments later, Devin Rice walked up behind Lytton, pulled out a handgun, and emptied it into Lytton's back, killing him.

Point blank murder, on the job, in broad daylight, over an argument about a soda that Lytton had already walked away from.

Just look at young Devin's angel face. Who could have possibly predicted that such a sweet boy would have such low impulse control?

Maura Healey represents some of the worst tendencies of contemporary Catholicism.

She's of Irish lineage, raised in New England, attended elite educational institutions, claims to be Catholic despite her sodomitical union to another woman. When the Bishop of Worcester ordered a Jesuit middle school to stop flying Black Lives Matter and Pride flags, she criticized him, saying that "inclusion" is at the heart of Catholic teaching. In 2024, she traveled to Rome to speak at a Vatican climate summit hosted by the Pontifical Academies of Sciences and Social Sciences, and personally met with Pope Francis.

The "Catholicism" of Maura Healey is precisely the "beige Catholicism" that @BishopBarron criticizes. These are baptized and confirmed Catholics who reduce Catholic doctrine to "just be a good person", despite not even being able to do that (good persons don't typically massacre the unborn). Maura Healey's Catholicism takes the "welcome the migrant" and "protect the climate" parts seriously, while simply rejecting the "don't murder the unborn", "don't euthanize the elderly", "don't trans your kids" parts of it.

My problem isn't necessarily with her. Of course, she is extremely wrong and on the path to perdition. But Healey is a byproduct of DECADES of decadent malformation, poor preaching, and shoddy witness to the Catholic faith by a number of prelates and priests who are too scared to become martyrs for the sake of the Gospel of Life. Healey's views are heinous, but in any other century, she would be univocally condemned, shamed, exiled, and excommunicated.

This is why I believe there is a crisis in the Church. Some of the most prominent voices in Catholicism are all too eager to endorse Healey's anemic version of Catholicism. Sure, they will view the abortion stuff as bad, but figure that she makes up for it in other areas (typically the areas progressives like to champion; climate, immigration, DEI, etc.)

The best thing the bishops of Massachusetts could do, save from a formal excommunication of the governor, is to call for a week of prayer, fasting, and abstinence for the crimes against humanity committed by their so-called "Catholic" governor.
