@HBerry177 From A Century of Soccer, the books on goalies, fullbacks, penalty takers etc. and everything since, I have had great pleasure from your writings and statistics. I will miss them. All the best.
@HBerry177 The Rovers London Branch often had ‘I can’t play next week because I am back in Blackburn’, but the best came from Chris O’Donnell:- ‘I can’t play next week because I am going to the ballet’.
@PlasticHead55@HBerry177 Cookie captained the London Branch football team to the 2nd Division Championship in 1988/89. Gone far too early but never forgotten.
@Stephen24406779@HBerry177 I hope Paul wasn’t driving. He drove us round Sweden on pre season in 1989 & 1990. God knows how we survived. God rest his soul. Left us far too early.
@HBerry177 Howard Gayle running, arms outstretched towards the empty away terrace is my favourite memory of him. I saw him once in one of the lounges before a match at Ewood, and I reminded him of it.
@JohnHolden34792@HBerry177 My mate in Wimbledon
managed to borrow 2 season tickets from Chelsea fans who were on holiday. At the end the guy in front who had sussed we were Rovers fans, turned round and said in broad cockney ‘don’t clap mate, our lot will think you’re clapping them’.
@JohnHolden34792 Shearer scored a cracker and I remember thinking ‘what a waste scoring that in a friendly, he won’t score another like that for months’. Fast forward a week and he scores two crackers at Palace!
