Using the term "global economy" in this context is disrespectful to the concept of the world economy. Do you even understand what the global economy means? Before you can claim to influence the global economy, you must first have a significant economic influence within your own region or state.
As of today, the South East contributes about 8% to Nigeria's GDP. If 8% is all you contribute to Nigeria's GDP, then there is little basis for claiming to influence the global economy.
South East has no seaport, no fully viable international airport with major global connectivity, and no land border with another African country to facilitate large-scale cross-border trade. Instead of making exaggerated claims, it would be better to look inward and focus on strengthening the region's economy rather than relying on propaganda and empty boasts.
I'm a Yoruba man and our father will say no matter how slippery the bottom of your child is leave the beads there."Ọmọ ẹni ò ní ṣe ìdí bẹ̀rẹ̀ bẹ̀rẹ̀ kí a fi ìlẹ̀kẹ̀ sí ìdí ọmọ ẹlòmíràn."

So, these !bo people once claimed they developed Ghana to the extent of saying they could buy the whole country. I thought that kind of archaic mindset existed only in Nigeria, but it seems they've taken the same behavior to Ghana as well. 🤣 😂 Everywhere they go their host are always lazy.
Wizkid stayed loyal to his Yoruba roots and stood firmly by them, becoming the most decorated Nigerian musician, while the other switched allegiance whenever it suited him. No consistency from the other guy, reason why he got lost in the industry.
A time is coming when !bo will demand that their culture and history be included in the John Randle Yoruba Art and Culture Museum, all in the name of "One Nigeria." Since a Yoruba man already supervises their dance and cultural presentations at the entrance of the museum, it's only a matter of time.
Is this really something to be proud of as an !bo person? A cap arrangement has literally massaged your ego. Politically, economically, socially and territorially, you're at a disadvantage, yet a cap arrangement gives you a sense of superiority. What a people.
If you watch old !bo movies, you'll hardly see anyone wearing gele. What they were known for was tying an ichafu headscarf, a word borrowed from the French word chiffon. Just like the winter cap. The !bo literally knew nothing about gele until they began moving en masse to the South West. Now, instead of giving credit to the Yoruba women, who initiated and popularized it, they now want to appropriate it. Cultural theft should be recognized as a crime in Nigeria.
The unitary system of government imposed by Aguiyi Ironsi through Decree No. 34 weakened our unity by concentrating power at the center, leaving minority groups struggling for political and economic relevance. Under the regional system, each region better understood its own circumstances and had greater room to develop according to its priorities until, the interests of one leader changed that arrangement. Today, many ethnic groups compete to control the central government because so much power and resources are concentrated in a single authority. We need to understand and accommodate our differences before we can achieve the long-awaited renaissance we hope for.
She wants to put Oyo on the map. Last year, someone from same ethnic, said she wanted to take Yoruba attire to the world, even though no one sent them.
At least I would have taken such a claim seriously if they had done the same for their own culture or state. Why not come clean and admit that you want to promote yourself or become known through the Yoruba establishment instead of being cunning and beating around the bush.
Lagos is a pan-Nigerian metropolis, but you're the same person who claimed that !bo and the Yoruba built Lagos together. If you can't claim it, you guys will nationalize it. If you can't nationalize it, you badmouth it. It's only !bos with this obsession with Lagos, using different rhetoric just to claim something they have no ties to. Otidi Afise.
