In his address, he reaffirmed Zimbabwe's commitment to Africa's common position on reparations, called for global acknowledgement of historical wrongs, and underscored that Africa's pursuit of reparatory justice is not about retribution, but justice, healing, dignity, and reconciliation.

Today marks ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ฒ, an occasion to recognise and celebrate the leopard (Panthera pardus), one of the most adaptable yet increasingly threatened big cats in our ecosystems.
As we observe this day, we join forces with governments, conservation organisations, research institutions, protected-area authorities, and communities across Africa and Asia to highlight the ecological significance of leopards and the urgent need for concerted conservation efforts.
Zimbabwe has an estimated leopard population of between 1,000 and 1,500 individuals. This important national population underscores Zimbabweโs responsibility, alongside other range states, to secure the species across both protected areas and wider landscapes.
As ZimParks, we are dedicated to the sustainable conservation of leopards as part of our broader priorities for biodiversity and protected areas, while encouraging responsible coexistence in shared landscapes.
