I have been arrested. My passport seized. My citizenship stripped. As I write, @HStvNews , @bbmhlanga@olgamuteiwa and @FaithZaba sit in our courts for telling the truth to power.
Some of us have already paid. Some of us are paying still. We have no intention of stopping.
These past few weeks I saw a glimpse of the Zimbabwe I have dreamed of all my life. I watched the Flag fill our timelines. I watched strangers across class and politics draft submissions to Parliament. I watched ordinary citizens take time off the daily hustle just to be counted. For a brief and beautiful moment, we remembered who we are.
Make no mistake. Ian Smith's white minority rule has been replaced by ZANU PF's repressive black minority rule. The fuel cartel. The procurement carnival around Tagwirei, Chivayo and Tungwarara. Wealth that tracks state tenders, not honest markets.
We will not be freed by another strongman. We will be freed by strong institutions and an awake citizenry.
The nation and the Constitution above party. Country before everything else.

DROPPING MONDAY 7AM (CAT)
“They Took Everything I Built”
Part 1 of my conversation with Nicholas Mugwagwa Vingirai — the father of indigenous banking in Zimbabwe.
He built Intermarket Holdings into a financial services empire. Then the state took everything.
Seven years in exile. Eleven charges. Full exoneration. And a fight that continues two decades later.
This is a story every African needs to hear.

I am appalled by the serious threats my son @DougColtart has received from a shadowy vigilante group called "Presidential Mafia Edutainers 4ED".
They make very serious threats, indeed they are tantamount to death threats, against my son and have also recently threatened Professor L. Madhuku and former Finance Minister T. Biti.
The only "crime" of all 3 men is to speak out against the Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3, which after all is their legal right as citizens, and indeed duty as lawyers who have sworn to uphold the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
This vigilante group has associated itself with President Mnangagwa and I trust that President Mnangagwa will immediately himself disassociate himself from the group because through these criminal threats it brings the office of the President into disrepute.
The attached powerful statement by the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (which is the umbrella body for almost all churches in the country) condemns the proposed Constitutional Amendments and calls on all Christians to prayerfully and non-violently take action to resist them.
The Church says that the Amendments are “broadly inconsistent with the foundational values underpinning the people driven 2013 Constitution, the inherent dignity of citizens and the demand of justice”.
The Church calls on all *Christians* to:
• pray for wisdom, courage and peace
• engage your MP to urge them to act with justice
• take action—grounded in truth, nonviolence, and love—to express our concerns
• draw strength from biblical witnesses who resisted unjust decrees
The Church calls on Members of Parliament to “stand on firm moral ground and decline to endorse these amendments”.
The Church calls on the President to “resist the temptation to amend the Constitution for selfish ends”
And the Church commits itself to “strategic, non-partisan engagement … to ensure Zimbabwe does not regress but advances toward the entrenchment of constitutional democracy”
The statement ends with a profound prayer:
“May the God of peace grant us courage to do what is right, wisdom to preserve justice, and love to bind us together as one people.” 🙏❤️
Amen
Today I had the great pleasure of meeting Zimbabwean #cricket legend Andy Flower who is in @CityofBulawayo commentating on the @ICC Under 19 #WorldCup2026 .
Andy has agreed to be one of the Ambassadors for the forthcoming Street Children Cricket World Cup which will be held in #Bulawayo in 2027. We discussed how we can publicise this event and mobilize sponsors and funding generally for it.
Next week the organizing team will be in Bulawayo meeting local cricket enthusiasts, business people and school heads as preparations begin for the tournament.
It is a great honour that Bulawayo has been awarded the right to host this event and I am grateful that Andy is prepared to use his considerable international profile, particularly in the UK and India, to raise awareness around, and promote, the SCCWC.
My takeaway from this long but era-defining speech:
“Middle powers must act together because if you are not at the table, you are on the menu.” https://t.co/DnxQwRl7Kf
My grandfather, Elliott Coates, was an engaging writer who lived an extraordinary life, providing a rare description of life for impoverished whites in Zim in the 1930's: An Edwardian Son: The Memoir of an Accidental English Colonist https://t.co/J5kkQx34Cm #Amazon via @Amazon
Elliott Coates was my grandfather and his memoir was discovered by my brother Andy amongst my mother, Diana Mitchell's, extensive writing collection. He was an engaging writer who lived a rather extraordinary life, https://t.co/3M2jJpMv3f #Amazon via @Amazon
Philip Chudy has published an excellent biography featuring many pictures of his father's work which can be found at the following link: https://t.co/voj0bCktCu
Below pics in tribute to Naomi Chudy who died 30 May this year. Naomi's father did many things well: he sculpted the bust of young Naomi, while the animals were made by David Chudy's company for the Museum of Human Sciences in Zimbabwe when it was still Southern Rhodesia.
As friends and family celebrated her life at a virtual memorial service on Thursday, Twitter users wore long dresses with pockets in her memory. https://t.co/wTvOtjFnSP
