June 11: Kennedy calls Rick Stewart (L, IA-02), tells him he’s acting as a “liaison” with the White House, offers to be his “advocate” if he exits the race. Recording obtained by WaPo.
Kennedy, on tape, dodging specifics: “I can’t go into specifics because there’s legal prohibitions about that.” Stewart’s read: careful wording, same implication — help us, we’ll help you.

ProPublica: Trump's FCC Chairman Brendan Carr and fellow Republican commissioner Olivia Trusty received pricey gifts valued at tens of thousands of dollars from Paramount while the company had deals pending before the commission.
Among them, Carr and his wife sat in a private skybox at the Kennedy Center with David Ellison and other Paramount and CBS executives that are typically sold for $125,000 a ticket.

German chancellor Friedrich Merz has warned Trump and his authoritarian regime to stay the fuck out of their elections and stop interfering after the US state department announced a scheme to fund fascist far-right MAGA-aligned causes in Europe.
"For our part, we do not interfere in American elections," he told a press conference on Wednesday. "Conversely, I do not want the American government or institutions close to the government to interfere in German elections."

This is America under Trump.
This happens every day, but not usually this well documented. No elected Republicans called for this deranged cop’s termination.
This is a child.
Republicans either look the other way, or worse, support this.

🚨BREAKING: ICE agents were filmed assaulting, handcuffing, and kidnapping a U.S. citizen in Passaic, New Jersey… while refusing to even look at the ID he repeatedly begged them to check.
A man is pleading with federal agents to verify who he is…
And they refused.
Instead, one agent says, “We need to get him on the ground,” puts him in a chokehold, throws him to the ground, and multiple agents pile on top of him before handcuffing him, and throwing him into their vehicle.
Under the Fourth Amendment, the government cannot arrest, or seize someone, without probable cause that they have committed, are committing, or are about to commit an offense that authorizes the arrest.
U.S. citizens are also not required to carry identification unless they’re driving a motorized vehicle.
And if federal agents are refusing to verify someone’s identity before arresting them, then they are openly ignoring the constitution.
Which should terrify every American.
Because that means no one is safe from being kidnapped by the government… and disappeared.
Every agent involved should be publicly identified, and DHS should be forced to explain why they believed they had the legal authority to seize someone, while refusing to verify who he was.
This cannot become normal.

Trump is trying to gut the Endangered Species Act. This is a big deal, and he must be stopped.
For half a century, harming a protected animal meant you couldn’t destroy the place it lives. The Supreme Court backed that up in 1995. Six justices said the obvious thing, that if you wipe out an animal’s home, you wipe out the animal.
Trump wants to throw this out so his friends can pave over the last nesting ground of a vanishing species and call it legal, as long as they don’t personally kill the animal.
Starve it, drill it, mine it. Go right ahead. It’s a permission slip for oil and mining companies to speed up extinction, and habitat loss is already the number one reason species disappear.
This rule ignores the plain text of the law Congress wrote. The 1995 ruling is still on the books, and a rule this lawless is exactly what judges are there to strike down.
Congress must act too. I’ll push for a vote to overturn this, and I’ll fight any spending bill that tries to lock these rollbacks in.
And you have a role. Public comments already are hundreds of thousands strong against this.
Keep the pressure on.

Cities and counties in the USA are now equipping garbage trucks with AI-powered cameras that scan neighborhoods for property violations and code enforcement issues.
The cameras record continuous footage while the trucks run their normal routes, and then algorithms analyze the visual data to flag things like missing permits or overgrown yards.
This is so dystopian. I don't like it one bit.
🦔 In 1999, a Texas farmer deeded 87 acres to a public trust for $10 with one condition written into the deed. Use it as a park. The land passed through a chain of nonprofits and the city of Taylor, Texas until the Taylor Economic Development Corporation sold it to a data center developer for $10 million in 2025. A 135,000 square foot data center is now planned 500 feet from the homes of the families the park was meant for. Pamela Griffin, who grew up playing on that land, sued to enforce the original deed restriction. The judge dismissed it and denied an injunction. An appeal is pending in Austin.
My Take
If a city can launder a conditional deed through enough nonprofits and development corporations until the restriction disappears, every conditional deed in Texas is worth less today than it was yesterday. Griffin's own lawyer told her she would have won if her opponent had been anyone other than a data center developer. That should bother people regardless of how they feel about data centers.
Taylor says the project will bring $30 million in tax revenue over ten years. Data centers employ almost nobody. So the families 500 feet away get a power substation and a noise berm, and the city gets revenue that mostly flows to the school district. When residents asked about property values, Taylor compared itself to Round Rock, a suburb six times larger with homes worth five times as much. You don't reach for a comparison that bad unless you already know the honest answer is worse.
