The late Bonke Meyile (34) 🕊️🕊️was a senior auditor for the Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) who died while in police custody at the Gonubie Police Station in East London in May 2025. A post mortem revealed a police officer belt around his neck. His family and supporters have disputed the suicide claim, noting that Meyile was not wearing a belt when he was arrested and that inmates are typically required to remove such item.
