New blog post: A Decade of Slug
This talks about the evolution of the Slug font rendering algorithm, and it includes an exciting announcement: The patent has been dedicated to the public domain.

@rqobela Here we go, in no particular order:
Pascal, Basic (multiple flavors), Perl, ColdFusion, Prolog, Perl, Lisp, ActionScript, PHP, Java, JavaScript, COBOL, Clipper and dBase III
It’s weird to remember a few were meant to kill/replace C/C++ yet they’re still going strong
A) Yes
B) Myself and others have been sounding this alarm for over a decade
C) Many factors are at play, including an improperly trained workforce, monopoly business effects, and widespread adoption and standardization of low-quality practices, languages, platforms and protocols
Here's a fun AI story: a security researcher noticed that large companies' AI-authored source-code repeatedly referenced a nonexistent library (an AI "hallucination"), so he created a (defanged) malicious library with that name and uploaded it.

Yeah-yea, Linked Lists are bad for performance (on the contemporary hardware), you should probably not use them today, but if you don't know how to implement them and why you should not use them today your knowledge of CS is lacking, sorry. Don't use that as an excuse.
@seanbax As for the documentation/proposal, you will need to write one from scratch. (Almost) No one from the committee will read documentation for another language, since they’re interested in C++ and not another language.
You can add references and footnotes to the document ofc :)
@seanbax Fwiw your work is extremely valuable and I’m cheering for you
I do believe that having a solid proof of concept will allow this to feature expand further, and I agree having it as optional is a must
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Cuidado!
