This is one of the coolest podcast episodes I’ve ever heard. The best podcasts moments usually occur as a moment of a much bigger context and relationship and this is a good example.
@AgnesCallard I found it deeply moving and felt real care for Robin in it.
@AgnesCallard@robinhanson Yea, it’s beautiful. It’s sacrificial price that you pay to to have to feel upset in the moment to achieve the attempt of sharing that perspective, and sometimes it still doesn’t connect but so worth the attempt in my view. Hopefully it’s pain and not suffering to you experience
@musicphanatic No, just subconsciously felt right or familiar is my guess. Relatively little analytical thinking went into the parts for the record. We just tried to get a ton of the right energy and impulses and go fast.
@AgnesCallard@robinhanson I think on average, people underestimate how much their followers gain utility from trying to emulate and and model them. Each personality is a puzzle to solve and poll is an opportunity to calibrate to the personality and the fellow followers.
@robinhanson@AgnesCallard I think I’d be drawn to trying to choose what I imagine each of your personalities would rationalize to be the answer. I’d be motivated to wonder why you were asking, and would probably have answered as the dominant way for each or your polls.
@RajWebshar@robinhanson I think that the total demand is a function of everyone who works remote prioritizing their own living space is the driver more than people changing location.
In the (near) future, every person will have a parallel digital identity. Avatars, crypto wallets, digital goods will be the norm. Are you planning for this?
@robinhanson I heard @DrHowardGardner say in a podcast that “Synthesis” is a field to be born and taught in the 21st century, is that in line with your analysis here?
