'Caring for someone can be all-consuming. That is the experience of most carers. It will take away your job, your friends, most of your family, decimate your finances, and reduce your life to a mere existence. I’m sorry to be so blunt about it but I want you to be prepared.'
It is estimated there are up to 6 million unpaid carers in the UK. Here, full-time carer, Liz Grint’s shares her top tip for carers like her with @revkatebottley. Find out more on #SongsOfPraise, Sunday at 1:15 pm @BBCONE & https://t.co/HeIgVusJUn

It would be interesting to compare the no of #youngcarers identified in the last census in various geographical areas to the numbers identified in the #schoolcensus
The 2024 school census data is out and whilst the number identified has increased from 39,000 to 54,000, 72% of schools still recorded having zero young carers. This is something we will be pushing the next Government hard on.
I genuinely hope that however the election turns out, the party of government put Ed Davey in charge of a complete overhaul of all aspects of social care, possibly even giving him a seat at Cabinet. We have to care better as a country, and he may be the man to lead reform.
Caring isn't just Ed's story, it's the story of millions, caring for each other, dealing with tough times, and keeping going with love.
The Liberal Democrats will be the voice of carers every day, fighting their corner in Parliament.
