Can this be used for anything? (Except for creating a component library, of course). For example, adding components to a PCB without a netlist would make creating and exporting a netlist possible. For example, a geometric netlist (e.g., IPC-356) or a schematic-like netlist.

Sometimes, you drive the code; sometimes, the code drives you. I implemented copy-paste for components, also working the way it creates a new footprint - a new instance of the component. Seeing it in action confused me a bit. The viewer is now an editor.
