I had to explain welding to smalls.
So we are making a short between the electrodes. Pass me that 6011.
No no you strike it like you are lighting a match.
Mig is for people that went to Lowe’s and have good credit
There is a percentage of the population that inexplicably doesn't accelerate on freeway on-ramps and tries to get on the highway going 30 mph and I do not understand it
There are so many clips I want to share, but Bret Baier saying, “I actually don’t, what are you talking about,” was incredible. Watch this clip on Kamala turning the page:
BREAKING: Florida, Texas, North Carolina, North Dakota, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Alabama have all passed bills banning public universities from spending money on D.E.I. initiatives and/or similar restrictions.
Modern cars suck and killed America.
Lifeless. Soulless. Boring machines that lack genuine character, they are doomed to appliance tier items.
Why you ask? As Bob Lutz once said, car companies lack car enthusiasts. Bean counters and analysts scour excel reports and track units, numbers.
Coupled with never ending crash safety standards, environmental regulations, they are slowly being strangled into the boring hunks of metal they are today.
EVs try to spice it up with massive power, not realizing this is merely a cope. A huff of despair. They stay soulless, lifeless machines with zero connection to the road with only the whine of ev motors whirring to break the silence.
Toyota head once cried about the shape of Toyota and spent the last 15 years trying to inject life into it, missing the fun that once existed. The GR86, Supra, GR Yaris and Corolla try to create the joy of driving which once existed, but they only brush against the bar of yore.
BMW, once known as the Ultimate Driving Machine, turned into middle management toasters. They will never recreate the magic of their ancestors, the E39.
I can label brand after brand, dying right before our eyes and we pretend it can't be solved. It's "inevitable".
Ita now reached a precipice. Gen Z and Alpha lack interest into driving. Taking longer and longer to acquire their licenses, and car manufacturers pretend to stay confused.
They know why. They chose short term profits over true automotive spirit. As with the rest of America, it's become the playbook for the average corporate entity within the greatest country on earth. Look at airlines. GameStop. Ford. GM. Boeing. They all follow the same, exact game plan. All to the detriment of their forebearers.
It's sad, because today our technology is better than ever before. CAD, simulations, tire technology, transmission technology. It's at levels once only dreamed of, and yet....we spend our days slapping it in the basic 2.0 turbo 4 189hp economy blob mobile with dead steering, confused AF auto transmission, and the worst dashboards ever conceived of.
I miss the analog gauges, the metal faces, the clink of the manual shifter sliding into gear. The weight of the steering, the communicative rack telling you exactly where the front wheel is, the cars weight shifting, the brake pedal having a linear feel, the chassis communicating exactly how the rear of the car is slowly shifting as the car shrinks around you...the way the car intuitively tells you it's ok, let's start accelerating as you feel the rear slide in a progressive manner. Real cars will tell you exactly when, how, and what to do with subtle feelings. The roaring of the engine note musically tuned as you rev to 7k.
The magic of driving is dying and it's entirely preventable. The few enthusiasts left will merely fight over the scraps of a civilization long gone. Never understanding the feeling or why, ever chasing the ingrained spirit in all Americans. We are a country of drivers, yearning to traverse the grand expanse of roads that inhabit our great country. Its a feeling that's impossible to fake, the feeling of true freedom on the open road. It's what made America and we choose to throw it away for a few measly bucks.
We should be ashamed of ourselves. Disgraceful of us. Our children must find the last miatas, the last corvettes and m3s, and drive them till they are dust in the wind.
On my deathbed, how I hope to hear the wail of a straight 6 hitting 8k, the rumble of a 427 with a lopey cam at idle, the roar of a v10 at redline, the screech of tires sliding around a bend. Smell the burnt rubber. The cooked brakes. The evaporating gas. Let me feel the last pull of an open headered Civic ffs.
You soulless bastards. Fuck the EPA. Fuck the Shareholders. And fuck you. Yes you. Your stupid Tesla. Your stupid SUV. Your stupid hybrid. Fuck you you stupid Americans letting the greatest invention all time, the automobile, die for a cheap iPhone.
