Africa Deserves its own LOL Server ?
As the competitive League of Legends scene continues to grow around the world, one major region remains overlooked: Africa.
During the recent MEA qualifiers, several African teams were forced to compete on more than 400 ping. At that level of latency, the game becomes nearly unplayable.
The issue goes beyond competitive integrity. Without a dedicated African server, millions of players are denied the opportunity to practice and improve under fair conditions. Talented players who could potentially reach professional levels are forced to develop in an environment where every match is played at a disadvantage.
Esports history has shown that talent exists everywhere when given the right infrastructure. Regions once considered minor have produced world-class players after receiving proper support and server access. Africa is no different. The continent has a massive young population, a growing gaming community, and passionate competitors eager to prove themselves.
The question is no longer whether African talent exists. The question is how much talent is being lost because players are forced to compete at 150, 200, or even 400 ping.
If Riot Games truly wants to expand League of Legends globally, Africa cannot continue to be treated as an afterthought. A dedicated African server would not only improve the player experience but also unlock the potential of an entire generation of competitors.
Africa doesnโt need special treatment. It simply needs a fair chance.
