Minnesota should be able to import as many Somalis as they damn well please and damn the lincolnite hordes trying to stop them"
The majority of the political discourse in the 2020s has been essentially a never-ending series of manipulative light-switch brain triggers. Instead of figuring out a complex position on any given topic, like say, a cognitive map that looks like a sorting board or jenga tower, you get a series of triggers and simplistic input/output mechanisms designed to press on certain fears and insecurities (while masking others).
This creates instantaneous responses and triggers in the minds of discourse-peddlers responding to the allowed positions in the given online milieu they find themselves in.
This tactic of manipulation works more effectively on fringe political groups than mainstream ones because 1. the social rules of engagement are so different, relying on influence and spectacle rather than social engineering and public policy. And 2. Because there is always the realities of evasiveness and subtle signalling towards the โrealโ position (which is socially punished).
The breakdown often occurs in between the exoteric and esoteric political position vs. Signs and messaging, where a whole mass of radicals/outsiders/dissidents/etc. adopt positions made to appear as if they are โmainstreamโ but signalling towards a โdeeper/more radical truthโ, while in actuality coming up with a more esoteric (โbasedโ/โrevolutionaryโ) way to prop up the mainstream position all along.
this too is often achieved through light-switch brain thinking around these positions and contentious political issues.
