As a human being, I'm saddened by the passing of Marjane Satrapi, and my condolences go to those who loved her. As an artist, however, I feel differently. For years, she used her work to promote a leftist political agenda and helped elevate Mossadegh into a heroic figure. Even NIAC and others used her so called "art" to advance the Islamic Republic's reformist narrative in the West. That is not a legacy I admire, celebrate, or will be mourning.
