Even in retirement, I am humbled by the Punjab & Haryana High Court’s declaration, deeming me empaneled as Additional Secretary and Secretary to Government of India. It is a powerful reminder of the enduring strength of independent institutions.

People of Leh, bowing in veneration to the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha. Inviting all residents on the sacred occasion of Buddh Purnima at 9 am in Jivetsal, for a befitting prayer before the Holy Relics.
Her name was Shehla Masood.
She was 38 years old, lived in Bhopal, and ran an event management company.
Then in 2009, she discovered the RTI Act.
She filed over 200 RTI applications in two years. She exposed illegal construction happening in plain sight. She fought to save tigers being poached by the very forest officers meant to protect them. She took on Rio Tinto, a global mining giant sitting on 27.4 million carats of diamonds inside a protected forest in Chhattarpur. Two district collectors were transferred to make that mining happen. She filed RTIs, went to parliament, and stopped it.
A month before she died, she gave an interview. She said she feared for her life but would not stop, because the nexus between politicians and babus was slowly poisoning this country.
On August 16, 2011, she sat in her car outside her home, about to leave for an Anna Hazare rally.
A hired gunman shot her once through the throat.
The CBI said the motive was a love triangle. Four people were convicted and sentenced to life. The mining angle was never investigated.
Her father told investigators that high profile people had conspired to kill his daughter.
Nobody listened.
She was posthumously given the SR Jindal Crusade Against Corruption Award, an honour shared with APJ Abdul Kalam.
India rewarded her with a bullet, then gave her an award, then forgot her name.
Follow for real stories India never makes headlines about.
This is the level of understanding of someone who heads an Indian news agency. Unable, incapable of even a single coherent and rational thought! Embarassing! No wonder, as the Chinese say: "Many Indians believe in their own propaganda!" Kudos to Miranda House students!
Heartiest congratulations to the students of Kargil and Leh on their commendable achievements in the CBSE Class X Board Examinations 2026, with Kargil recording 79.08% and Leh achieving an impressive 87% pass percentage. This success reflects the growing strength and determination of students across Ladakh.
For Kargil, this achievement is especially significant, as the last two years have been very challenging following the transition to the CBSE system and low result. This year stands as a testament that consistent efforts, determination, and hard work have truly paid off.
This is a truly remarkable achievement. I extend my deepest appreciation to our teachers whose tireless dedication, commitment, and hard work have been the foundation of this success. Their role in guiding and mentoring students through this phase is highly commendable.
I also sincerely appreciate the consistent efforts of the Education Department, CEO Kargil, CEO Leh, Director Education, and all associated officials whose planning, coordination, and support have significantly strengthened the education system in the district.
A very special note of gratitude to Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Administrative Secretary (Higher & School Education), UT Ladakh. Her continuous support, unwavering dedication, and clear vision have been instrumental in steering this progress and strengthening the education framework in Ladakh.
My sincere appreciation to both the Councils for their continuous hard work and commitment. Special appreciation to the Kargil Council, Hon’ble CEC, Hon’ble EC Education, and all the Hon’ble Councillors for their dedicated efforts and commitment, especially as the last two years have been very challenging.
Warm congratulations to the Deputy Commissioners/CEOs of Kargil and Leh, along with the entire District Administrations, for their leadership and support.
Most importantly, my dear students this achievement fills our hearts with immense pride and joy. You have proven that with determination, courage, and hard work, no challenge is too great. This is not just a result, it is the beginning of a bright journey ahead. Dream big, work hard, and rise higher you carry the hopes of Ladakh, and we believe in each one of you. The entire Ladakh stands proud of you today.
Not only ALC aspirants, but all aspirants in #Ladakh have been adversely affected since the formation of the Union Territory due to the lack of job opportunities.
Therefore its requested that this age relaxation opportunity should be extended to all ST aspirants of #Ladakh to ensure fairness and equal access.

Two weeks ago, I saw something that still haunts me. A boy barely 14–17 years old standing by the roadside, sniffing solution from a polythene bag in broad daylight. No one stopped. No one asked. Life moved on around him as if he were invisible.
But he wasn’t invisible. He was someone’s son. Someone’s student. Someone’s friend. A child whose life is quietly slipping away, one inhalation at a time.
I couldn’t hold myself. I couldn’t just walk away and pretend I didn’t see it. So I called the police and requested them to reach the boy, take him into their care, and talk to his parents. Because somewhere, a family needs to know what their child is going through before it’s too late.
This is not just one boy’s story. Substance abuse among young people in Ladakh is a growing, painful reality. And the hardest part is that many of these children don’t even fully understand what they are doing to their bodies, the damage to their brains, their lungs, their futures.
This is where we, as a society, are failing. Parents please talk to your children. Have those difficult, uncomfortable conversations. Know where they go, who they spend time with, and what they are struggling with. Don’t wait for a crisis to start caring.
Schools: substance abuse awareness cannot be an afterthought. It must be part of the conversation. Teach children what these substances do. Show them the consequences. Give them the courage to say no and the safe space to ask for help.
And as a community, let’s stop looking the other way. Let’s hear them before it’s too late.

Julay & greetings
I don't have words to thank you all for ur solidarity with me, @GitanjaliAngmo & Ladakh.
While I have been released from prision my phone etc. are still in custody. Please bear with me as I slowly limp back to normal life.
While past 6 months hv been a most unjust ordeal, I do not know if anger & bitterness will help the cause I was fighting for... especially when the govt in its release order speaks of building 'mutual trust for constructive meaningful dialogue'.
Hence its best to see this as an acceptance of mistakes & an intention to correct them & therefore stay positive. I have a lot to say about the ordeal but at the moment I do not want to derail this 'meaningful dialogue'... as Wangchuk cannot win if his CAUSE loses.
My struggle was not for me, it was to make the govt fulfill it's pledge to Ladakh to safeguard it under 6th Schedule & to restore democracy.
We await the next round of talks to see if Ladakh sees a new dawn... DO PLEASE continue your precious support.

In this war, Iran is fighting on behalf of humanity and freedom-seekers against those responsible for genocide, supporters of apartheid, child killers, and pedophiles.
Which side are you on?
Heartbroken by the tragic avalanche at Zojila Pass that has claimed innocent lives. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families no words can truly ease their pain. This is not just a tragedy, but a stark reminder of the harsh and dangerous realities our people are forced to endure while traveling on this critical route.
Zojila is the lifeline of Ladakh, yet repeated incidents like this expose serious gaps in safety preparedness. I strongly urge the concerned authorities to act with urgency rescue and clearance operations must be carried out on a war footing, and immediate relief and support must reach the affected families without any delay.
At the same time, there is an urgent need to implement a fixed and scientifically planned traffic schedule, preferably during early morning hours when avalanche risks are significantly lower. Preventive measures must replace reactive responses.
Equally important, we must all act responsibly. Once safety timings are fixed, strict adherence by the public is essential no journey is worth risking a life. Human life must always come above everything else.
The lives of our people cannot be left at the mercy of unpredictable conditions. We stand united in grief, and we will continue to raise our voice until safe, reliable, and all weather connectivity for Ladakh becomes a reality.
