This is an Igbo community in Benue State. This elderly man explains how they have been marginalised and left without meaningful development simply because of their Igbo identity.

How can we talk about restructuring Nigeria while ignoring Igbo-speaking communities that were placed within other states? If the government is genuinely serious about restructuring, it must be fair, transparent and based on the wishes of the people.

Every Igbo-speaking community that identifies with the broader Igbo cultural region should be given the opportunity to determine its political future through a lawful and democratic process. No community should be denied development, representation or a sense of belonging because of where its boundaries were drawn.

Restructuring must not be a political slogan or a campaign strategy. It must be about justice, equity, self-determination and genuine development for every Nigerian community.
