🚨🗣 Lionel Messi on being 'weird' and 'strange':
▪️“I know I’m a bit weirder than most people in some things... I like being alone a lot.”
▪️“Sometimes the chaos at home with the three kids running all over the place ends up saturating me, and I need my moments of loneliness.”
▪️“In those moments when I’m alone I can be just lying down watching TV or a match. Nothing special, just being quiet.”
▪️“It depends on my mood, but very small things, tiny details, can really affect me... If someone moves something from where I left it or changes what I had planned for the day, it can already put me in a bad mood.”
▪️“I’m very structured. If I have my day organized in a certain way and something happens in the middle that isn’t planned, I’m already annoyed.”
▪️“When I’m like that, I shut down. I don’t communicate it, I process it inside.”
@cmbftbl We see clips of wingers we are linked too, look how much space they have to attack. It’s just not going to happen much playing for us. Similar to Gyokores, he excelled in behind and running channels. When everyone camps in the box that’s the players we need to unlock opponents
@cmbftbl Most winger would struggle playing vs the deep blocks we face. Not saying you can’t upgrade on him in attacking contributions, but need to take in account that prem is far more physical, faster tempo and huge importance on defending as a team. Plus non stop deep blocks for us
@DanielT29 I agree the issue is going from teams who get more space to attack to us who play against deep blocks every game it’s a lot harder to have impact
@DJ___129 It’s not even passing forward it’s just being simple take a touch and pass fast not take loads of touches and allow opposition to get their shape
@AFCAlix@thebottomcorna Every single player we could sign in attack is a risk. There’s not a “Rice” player around which is a guaranteed bang for the money
@AFCAlix@thebottomcorna It’s very difficult to have high expectations to upgrade our attack when there isn’t really any one out there who’s guaranteed to perform for the money we’d pay
@LwandazTales@LeGrove Add in a player who’s capable of that consistently and it would help the other players too, although Vini for me very 50/50 about how he’s actually cope in England
@LwandazTales@LeGrove I get what you mean and it’s annoying as there’s some world class players with little chance of disrupting us but sometimes you have to take the chance and we really are missing the X factor in tight games. The whole squad chips in, but u never really fancy anyone now to do it
@Emzyl_ If teams played the way they did against us in 22/23 and 23/24 we’d absolutely murder them. We rarely lose now cause the control opposition give hs but they leave us little space. Over those years they left us space we were scoring 2-4 goals a game. They know we’ll destroy them
@Emzyl_ To be honest our biggest problem is transitioning fast when we win the ball, with almost every team deep block vs us it’s hard for us to do much more in a way, World Cup is showing it now just need a good structure and any game is close
Don’t get as much opportunity to show it like players we watched 10-20 years. They’re obviously technically outrageous because they keep up with the pace of the game in this period of football which is probably 20-40% faster than 2015 etc
4 days in to the World Cup and all I’m seeing is arsenals way of playing being vindicated.
Even the supposed shit teams as long as u can keep up physically and keep shape off the ball every game is very tight. It really is about margins (hence why we focus on set-pieces)
Everyone has a mid/deep block of the ball now and very compact, it’s always gonna lead to more free kicks from wide/deep areas and corners as so many bodies back. The issue isn’t set pieces or how people play on the ball, the issue is everyone is so good off the ball now
