Zulu history of the Day
"Bulalani abathakathi"
On this day December 16 1838 👁️
The day when Boers also known as Afrikaners finally defeated our great-great grandafather King DINGANE KASENZANGKHONA - "It was King Dingane who refused to give away his land to the Boers led by Piet Retief and with the most cunning of thoughts invited Piet Retief to his kraal where he then made a clarion call to his warriors to 'kill the Witches' ("Bulalani a Bathakathi"). This culminated to many wars of resistance led by King Dingane until he was finally defeated on the 16th of December by gun welding afrikaners. In celebration the Boers created Pietermaritzburg to commemorate piet retief and swore they would worship their God forever for helping them defeat the Zulu's, they also translated this win as a sign that they were the 'chosen nation' & believed that everything that belonged to the Zulu's was now theirs. We call this day reconciliation day or braai day as an attempt to destroy erase our centre of memory. Today in history is therefore the day that King Dingane Ka Senzanhakhona led his Warriors to a battle against invasion of what he had characterised as witches for attempting to invade & steal land owned by his people.
