@briff_c It's very clear in the text that she was pregnant with his child, and she miscarried it when Taro broke up with her. That's part of why she is so messed up and hurt. How is there debate on this???
@briff_c All of the Kanokari characters are well written honestly. Mini is certainly special though. I'm convinced she's bi and would be down for a threeway with Kaz and Chi. And she could prob convince Sumi to make it four 🤣
@Finalkingdom3 He believes he's the problem and places himself in the villain role simply so no one else has to. His self esteem is rock bottom so he might as well bite the bullet. Mami is the opposite; she genuinely thinks she's "saving" people by burning down love and relationships.
@briff_c Ruka is a great antagonist imo. She's not "evil" like Mami, but very morally gray and has to learn a lot of painful lessons firsthand.
Sumi has less to "fix", so she doesn't NEED lots of screentime. And that's okay! Not everyone needs a tragic backstory or major developments
@Finalkingdom3 People misinterpret and twist everything about this series all the time, so I'm not surprised. It's almost funny to me how consistently the series is misread, like the haters are all a bad faith mob, which makes it hard to have good convos about this series
@TheSliceofAnime God forbid a story explore trauma as a main theme, how that affects people and can make them take forever to do a simple step. Too realistic for the haters I guess 🤷♂️
@TheIonCannon@TheSliceofAnime One thing I had Mini do in mine: she takes to calling Chizuru "Mistress" to match how she calls Kazuya "Master". Feels pretty on brand for her tbh
@TheIonCannon@TheSliceofAnime I only really see Chi doing that if she failed to break into the acting business. I feel like if she did, she would prioritize acting and basically retire from rentals. Hence why I see Sumi in the "trainer" role more than Chi, seems perfect for her once she's more confident
@TheIonCannon@TheSliceofAnime Manga has a lot of important context which makes me believe "in his corner" = romantic confession. Chances are, whatever you've heard about the manga isn't 100% accurate, given how misunderstood the whole series is. Doing a reread of it all myself to refresh my memory
@TheIonCannon@TheSliceofAnime The entire Joypolis arc shows her very obviously crushing on Kazuya. Not to mention that one bath scene where she tells Chizuru "if you reject him, I'll still be in his corner", which given the context, is tantamount to a confession of interest in him
