@MacFarlaneNews “At its best, America serves as a haven of individual liberties in a world too often
full of tyranny and cruelty.”
I so hope we can resurrect that place after we clean this mess up.
FWIW, Jay Clayton, Trump's new DNI nominee, was just on CNBC insisting there was election fraud in the LA mayoral race. That's sort of party line stuff at this point. But still, relevant to this post since Trump's openly using it to go after voting
@greggnunziata This is an clear example of how agnotology, a sort of cultivated ignorance, is being weaponized in the current political moment. Epistemic fatigue, cynicism, and then nihilism quickly become one of the gravest threats to democracy.
@JTasioulas I just learned last evening about agnotology, the study of ignorance. It’s an incredibly fascinating time to be studying and thinking about social epistemology.
We should not reauthorize FISA until there is ZERO CHANCE Bill Pulte (or anyone else with a history of or intent to abuse of power to hurt Trump's political opponents) gets anywhere near our classified services.
Republicans don't want to talk about Trump's $1.8 billion slush fund or his lifetime get-out-of-audits-free card.
That's exactly why they keep trying to silence Democrats who are demanding answers.
@RepGwenMoore:
This is grotesquely irresponsible.
Why do Republicans think a scandal-ridden reality-TV star was going to perform well in one of the bluest districts in the nation in a likely blue year? They liked his AI videos?
I hate the way California counts ballots, but claims of fraud requires evidence of fraud, not outcomes you don't like.
@daveweigel I don’t think it’s that simple. Lots of people have watched in horror at how evangelicals allowed Trump/MAGA to coalesce with the party. It’s a different and more complicated picture if you look at Catholicism, for instance. I grew up steeped in both, so it’s been quite a ride
A Saronic Corsair unmanned surface vessel rescued the Army AH-64 Apache crew after they crashed near the Strait of Hormuz in the waters of Oman yesterday, the first-ever rescue of downed aircrew by a drone boat -WSJ
the Ohio House could vote on SJR 10 on Wednesday, teeing it for the ballot. President says he’s urging Ohio House GOP to advance it and that he’ll “be watching”
caveat: some GOPers aren’t sold because SJR 10 doesn’t sufficiently address mail-in voting in their eyes
We are ten years into allegations of widespread election fraud - only for elections Trump or republicans lose, mind you - for which Trump and allies have either not produced evidence, or claimed evidence which was subsequently debunked. And blatant contradictions - such as celebrating wins under the same laws and practices while confidently declaring theft for any losses - are now the norm.
