Thank you so much City of Holland residents for your vote, your trust, and your support. Looking forward to continue representing you the next four years!
Today is Election Day and as on every Election Day, we have the power to chart our course for the coming years as a people and as a community.
At the end of last year, I made the decision to run once again for commissioner in order to continue serving City of Holland residents with integrity, transparency and dedication. Today, I am asking for your vote to do that, but even more importantly, to help us chart our course here in Ottawa County towards a one where we can work together to find solutions and celebrate together the diversity of who we all are.
If you haven’t voted yet, I would be honored to have your vote in this most important election!
Doug

* Endorsement *
It's an honor to have the endorsement of this man of deep wisdom and kindness, a man with whom I've the privilege to share so many hours this past year and a half. Thank you Roger for your service to Ottawa County these many years.
"Since coming on the board of commissioners, Doug Zylstra has shown himself to be a dedicated commissioner going from just seeing himself as representing Holland to representing the whole of Ottawa County. In working closely with him this past year I have seen first hand his dedication, foresight and tenacity. His continued presence on the commission will assure citizens of Doug's continued goal of bringing back common sense goverment to Ottawa County.
I support Doug because I believe he is the right person to continue as commissioner in the 3rd District" - Roger Bergman

Thank you to the West Coast Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this morning’s Candidate Forum. It was great be able to speak about how we can reestablish trust with our business community and once again be a vital partner for growth in our community in 2025!
Thank you to Fox17 and Matt Witkos for the opportunity to talk about my priorities for Ottawa County and why I’m running for re-election to once again represent City of Holland residents to the County Board.
Two people are vying to represent Ottawa County's District 3 in this year's race for County Commission.

Positive Highlights from 2023-2024: - Adeline Hambley
"Perhaps the most important action we took as a Board over the last year and a half is something that we didn’t do, that is, remove the Ottawa County Health Director Adeline Hambley."

Continuing with positive Highlights from the previous two years: Our 2022-23 investment in Countywide Broadband.
"In 2022, The Board opened an initial contract with Graybar/Fujitsu and set aside $7.5 million in ARPA dollars to fund countywide broadband. In 2023, we signed a contract with https://t.co/B8KNvRs0Lp to begin work on serving County residents who lacked access to broadband."

Continuing with positive Highlights from the previous two years: Our 2022 investment in Housing.
In 2022, the Board made commitments of over $13M towards growing Housing Opportunities for a wide array of Ottawa County residents. From Direct Investment to creating the first ever Housing Fund, I am proud of what we were able to accomplish. https://t.co/kmSU2a9giz
Continuing with positive Highlights from the previous two years: Our 2022 investment in Early Childcare Expansion.
In Ottawa County, between the age of zero and five, there is currently one childcare slot for every two children. A lack of available childcare is a barrier to job seeking parents and employers in desperate need of workers.
In response to this need, the County Board of Commissioners on November 23, 2022 voted to allocate $7.5 Million to enable our partner ODC Network to help reduce the local gap in child care capacity by 10% over the next three years and create 1,000 additional child care spots across the county by utilizing local employer sites. ODC plans to accomplish this through a coalition of partners including the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District and local businesses. More here: https://t.co/dPWPg1D9e7
