PSA-attn local PD cops:
Every part of the US has a field office w an on-duty ICE agent.
Find the phone #, and call it when you suspect someone is illegal. Even if the ID doesn’t pop in your state system/NCIC, often these are visa overstays. Put them on ICE’s radar at least!
There are stories of heroism from the founding of the American colonies that rival anything in Livy's History of Rome. Stories about people you've never even heard of. Benjamin Church, Hannah Duston.
In 1697, during King William’s War, Hannah Duston was captured and her 6 day old baby had it's head bashed in by Abenaki Indians.
Later, Duston and two fellow captives killed and scalped ten of their captors before escaping.
American, remember who you are descended from.
If you think America is doomed and "tRuMp fAiLeD" because the Supreme Court upheld a 128-year interpretation of birthright citizenship (aka nothing changed) even though Trump has made immigration impossible, please snip your dick smoove off in someone else's mentions, kthxbye
Have zero patience for this sort of post. We have the most effective right wing administration in our lifetimes and people on here want nothing more than to squander what we’ve been given and see Kamala Harris in the White House so they can say “I told you so” on here
I’ll take the W
Since the beginning of the war, there was basically a consensus that 1) it has no objectives, 2) IRGC is winning, 3) China is benefiting, 4) US is nuking energy markets, all false based on false premises and therefore false predictions. It’s fine to hate Trump, but reality is reality.
Trump should declare the current Pope an Antipope, march on Rome, and install one of these guys. This is the West. This is tradition. Call me a Ghibelline if you must.
Bill Campbell has apparently attended all of the 26 executions conducted in Florida in the past year or so, holding a sign celebrating the execution and blasting songs like 'another one bites the dust' to drown out the anti-death penalty protestors.
@CEBKCEBKCEBK@Read_Acted Very good analysis many should read. People interested in how the court works, at least. This is especially true, Civil Rights Era was built up by inches and feet that forced its way onto ground, not a single 'big win' that made the regime permanent.
Pretty much every major SCOTUS decision is won this way. SCOTUS said min wage laws were unconstitutional in the 1920s, then changed their minds in the 1930s; ditto for wiretapping protections, public defenders, etc. In 1973 it ruled 5-4 against sex being “an inherently suspect classification” (like race) & said feminists needed their Equal Rights Amendment for that; in 1976, ERA stalled, & SCOTUS changed its mind on that (1st by a little, then quickly by a lot).
Likewise today 4 Justices said *varying degrees* of “Congress & POTUS can together limit anchor babies”—Thomas & Gorsuch even said *undocumented immigrants with long-term “roots” here* are *much* more protected than birth tourists—but the desegregation cases likewise played incrementalism: at 1st it was explicitly just ending de jure segregation in schools, then also in transport, & in recreation, & so forth, & then forced busing & more.
You’ll be shocked at how fast it happens if we keep winning, just like libs were shocked by how fast Brown v Board (which itself had many mostly unsuccessful recent predecessors) metastasized.
Straight from the horse's mouth–the AUTHOR of the 14th amandment. Clearly spoken and straight to the point. It doesn't get more authorative than this.
“Every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is, by virtue of natural law and national law, a citizen of the United States.
THIS WILL NOT, of course, include persons born in the United States who are FOREIGNERS, ALIENS, WHO BELONG TO THE FAMILIES OF AMBASSADORS OR FOREIGN MINISTERS ACCREDITED TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES, but will include every other class of persons.
It settles the great question of citizenship and REMOVES ALL DOUBT as to what persons are or ARE NOT citizens of the United States.”
— Senator Jacob Howard, Congressional Globe, 39th Congress (1866), p. 2890
President Trump should utilize the full authority of his office using INA § 212(f) to minimize the damage of today's order starting with a proclamation that women of child-bearing years who aren’t legal immigrants are largely barred from the U.S., e.g., no F-2, H-4s, or J-2s.
Birthright citizenship tale... Our social circle in Maskachusetts included a guy married to a Honduran. Every time one of his wife's relatives is pregnant she comes to stay with them. When it is time to deliver the baby, the relative Ubers to one of the most expensive hospitals in the world, e.g., Beth Israel. She gives birth, says the magic words to avoid ever receiving a bill ("I'm undocumented"), and, after a few weeks, heads back to Honduras with baby, birth certificate, and U.S. passport. This one family has likely cost taxpayers at least $300,000 in payments to the hospital for "uncompensated care" and more than 10 U.S. citizens have been minted. When the kids are adults they have an automatic right to sponsor their parents for green cards, so eventually this one family will be responsible for perhaps 40 or 50 legal immigrants from Honduras to the U.S.
Another reason you shouldn’t despair about the birthright citizenship ruling: prior to today, almost all of the legal academy and most practicing attorneys claimed the admins position was “absurd” and were preparing for a 9-0 ruling in favor of a constitutional right to citizenship to persons born here.
Instead, 4 SCOTUS justices wrote that there is no constitutional right to birthright citizenship. In the next few years, we will get to 5. In the meantime, Kavanaugh explains how Congress can unmake birthright citizenship. The dissenters documented the historical inaccuracy and intellectual dishonesty of the majority’s opinion. As Justice Thomas wrote, the opinion will “not stand the test of time.” What will be remembered is the shameful and craven behavior of Justices Roberts and Barrett. They are on the wrong side of history.
Today was only possible because of President Trump’s leadership, and the activism and organization of the voters that put him in office. It was unimaginable 10 years ago that an administration would even challenge birthright citizenship, much less that 4 justices would be open to ending it. Keep pushing and keep organizing. We are going to win. 🇺🇸
@MysteryGrove it's literally status quo ante - another judge blew up a Trump EO - this has happened exactly 45235 times already in the second term alone. Yes it's lame. But is it a reason to schedule gender reassignment surgery? No I don't think so.
