I’d love to start considering my Game of the Year, but I’m still four huge releases behind schedule. I refuse to even think about if before finishing Lies of P and Super Mario Bros. Wonder - at a minimum. What I ‘can’ say is this year is notably solid.
Baldur's Gate 3 has a 'lot' of bugs. I didn't encounter any game-breaking ones, but they're legion and often annoying. Also, the ending could do with a section at minimum expounding on the choices you've made and their consequences. Literally everything else is kind of brilliant.
Baldur's Gate 3 might actually be a certified masterpiece. I'm 30 hours in, still a bunch of Act I to go, and I'm wholly impressed by the range with which my choices appear to ripple. I'm most impressed, though, with how many times the game has responded to odd/creative actions.
One of the worst things about indie games is how hard it can be to find the music. Draft of Darkness has some of the best industrial/horror jams I've heard in a long while, and I don't even know who made it. Somewhat infuriating.
It’s sad that a low budget film with the title Deadstream has more evil dead in it than Evil Dead Rises, but who cares? Good for them and solid effort - enjoyed the ride.
Oppenheimer is a masterclass in pacing and editing. It's pretty damn rare to watch a three hour film that manages to be both constantly engaging and consistently true to its own vision. Really special movie.
Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi is truthful to its purpose. I am willing to accept any and all questions of bias concerning my love for the crawling of dungeons, but I firmly hold that this one is at 'minimum' a good game. Give it a try.
Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi is a game with numerous faults. It is a game I would not recommend to most people. It's also 'totally' my jam. I didn't even know they made blobbers regularly anymore. If you like dungeon crawls and grinding consider this a thumbs 'way' up.
As much as I'm enjoying the grand majority of Dave the Diver, I think its greatest strength might be Dave himself. I can't remember the last genuinely good human being I got to play as that didn't come off as preachy. Dude's just a good dude.
