In Turkmenistan, lots of ways to connect to Tor are blocked, but you can help Turkmens access the free and open internet by running an obfs4 Tor bridge! The trick is, you need to run it on a residential connection. Here's how to help👇

My latest article is about the little blue pill.
Specifically, it's about whether it'll make you live longer.
It does a lot of great things, but it doesn't look like it extends lifespans.

Love the Wayback Machine? ❤️
Here’s your chance to stand up for it 📣
When news can't be archived, we all lose part of the public record 🕳️📰
Tell major publishers: keep journalism in the #WaybackMachine.

If the spaceship leaks air, our pressure suits protect us.
It is intensely uncomfortable, and could last 2 hours until we safely reenter Earth's atmosphere. Imagine having to run all systems and manually fly the ship wearing this taut balloon.
The suits are custom-sewn, and we do pressurised fit checks. The crash seat helps absorb Earth impact, and our knees are bent to keep the reentry capsule as small as possible.
News shouldn’t disappear. 🕳️
Some publishers are blocking the Wayback Machine, putting the public record at risk. Journalists are speaking out.
Add your name. Stand for preserving the news.

No less, enabling the design de novo proteins, a brilliant review @nature
"Over the next five to ten years, we anticipate the design of sophisticated protein nanomachines and materials with functionality ranging far beyond that generated during natural evolution for a wide range of
applications in medicine, technology and sustainability,"

Right now, figuring out how to share your genetic data is confusing. Important medical research is slowing down because information is locked away in isolated systems.
We created Yourself to Science to fix this.
It’s a free, open-source catalogue that shows you exactly where and how you can participate in scientific discovery.
Whether you used a basic at-home DNA test or have your completely sequenced genome, our new database helps you find the right match for your data.
Database Filters Include:
📍 Find projects available in your country
💰 Choose between altruistic donation or paid compensation
🔬 Filter by non-profit research or commercial companies
Explore the interactive directory here: https://t.co/Yw0U6xCYw8
This is a collaborative project.
All underlying data and code are open to the public. If you represent a DNA service or research biobank that we missed, drop the details below or reach out directly.
Let's build the standard together. 🧬

The web is disappearing 🕳️
According to a Pew Research Center report, 26% of pages from 2013-2023 are no longer accessible.
But that’s not the whole story.
In a new study published in Internet Archive's book, VANISHING CULTURE, data scientists working with the Wayback Machine have found:
16% have been restored through the Wayback Machine.
56% are preserved before they disappear.
Preservation is the remedy for cultural loss.

We are very happy that today Apple issued a patch and a security advisory. This comes following @404mediaco reporting that the FBI accessed Signal message notification content via iOS despite the app being deleted.
Apple’s advisory confirmed that the bugs that allowed this to happen have been fixed in the latest iOS release. You can read more here: https://t.co/yE8ufSTQHk
Note that no action is needed for this fix to protect Signal users on iOS. Once you install the patch, all inadvertently-preserved notifications will be deleted and no forthcoming notifications will be preserved for deleted applications.
We’re grateful to Apple for the quick action here, and for understanding and acting on the stakes of this kind of issue. It takes an ecosystem to preserve the fundamental human right to private communication.

Easily the coolest frame for me even though the camera hadn’t focused yet. So many of the shots were taken with the camera pressed up against the glass, which makes sense. But seeing the window frame and the scale of the entire moon & earth in the shot really made me stop in my tracks.
