Wish I could have been at UCF today for the Celebration of Life for Shawn Clark. I think about him and miss him everyday. So thankful to him for pouring into me.
I miss the walks, talks, & random phone calls. He was an exceptional Husband, Father, & Human. Miss you! #Forever61
In a sea of commentary one constant truth emerges again and again:
Coach Shawn Clark achieved his goal to impact people the way Coach Moore impacted him.
Anyone that knew Shawn knew how precious Coach Moore was to him. He mentioned this in his introductory HC press conference in 2019. He knew in 1994 following a playoff loss to BOISE STATE that he wanted to impact young men the way Coach Moore impacted him.
Coach Moore was around the program more in Clark’s tenure than he had been since his own tenure ended in 2012. Coach Moore was Coach Clark’s cultural guiding light.
Any Appalachian fan can take .2 seconds and see on their timelines just how much Coach Clark impacted their life. It ranges from fans, parents, admins, staff, players, and fellow coaches. Everyone.
Anyone that came across Coach Clark was positively impacted. Period.
We’ve been blessed to know hundreds of different coaches and players that have come through Boone. Coach Clark was as genuine and kind as any single person we’ve met. He was an Appalachian man of the highest order.
We’re all sad today. Devastated. How can you not be?
But let one silver lining be that Coach Clark’s goal stemming back from 1994 to impact people as a coach wasn’t just met. It was exceeded in every way possible.
Thank you, Coach.
We love you forever.

I can’t believe I just had to announce on live TV the death of a friend. I can’t believe this is where we are in America.
Charlie was a man of God. A Christian. A Patriot. A family man. A husband and father. And a really good man.
Everyone, everyone counted him as a friend. That’s because in a business of narcissism and competition Charlie supported everyone. He texted, he DM’d, he called, he cheered you on and complimented your work.
Charlie was also a legendary influence. Most notably on young people. College kids on gameday kickoff and my own kids asked if I knew Charlie Kirk. He won over a generation.
He also counted Americas leaders as his friends. I know.
Charlie was incredibly persuasive and an unparalleled debater. He engaged and invited those who thought him wrong. Even those that thought him evil.
It says something real that the only rebuttal to stop Charlie was violence. But it won’t stop Charlie. Because it won’t stop us. You just lifted up Charlie.
Welcome back home, @CoachDjSmith!
