Islam gave women the right to chose a husband, to leave a husband, to inheritance ... the first supporter of Islam was an independent business woman..... all rationality tells Islam is a system pro-women's empowerment!
Shame on #taliban
A brave girl from Afghanistan spray paints #LetHerLearn on a wall to spread a powerful message of resistance against the Taliban's oppressive ban on girls' education.
So after almost 17 months of banning teenage girls from school. The Taliban decide to BAN women from universities too.
Afghanistan is the ONLY country in the world that bans women and girls from going to school & university.
This is a crime against humanity & it must not stand.
Young women are Afghanistan's future — they are striving teachers, writers, doctors, business leaders and so much more. To crush the last hope they have of achieving their dreams is cruel and it's a loss for the world.
Girls crying in agony as they’re told that they will have to leave the university & go home as the Taliban have BANNED female university education in Afghanistan.
Painful to hear. How can we sit idly by as millions of girls are denied their human rights.
Carl Sagan returned to stardust on this day in 1996 and left us, besides his cosmic poetics, his timeless Baloney Detection Kit for critical thinking that should be in every classroom and every voting booth https://t.co/aYoTeRK3iu
Pakistan is having a massive cultural moment and is - in my opinion - the most exciting thing happening in our neighbourhood. I wrote about our brave, beautiful and transgressive pop culture for @guardian: https://t.co/cnaYwi7eb0
The global south will not survive this century without climate justice. You in the west are talking about paper straws, we in the global south are talking about reparations. My latest for @guardian: https://t.co/vChg9eN1X3
Cancelling cancel culture can also be cancelled by the cancel culture ... and has the danger of creating the paradox of self cancelation within the cancel culture!
Cancel Much?

This Sunday, a projected 1.5 billion people will watch the men’s #WorldCup final between cupholders France and Argentina. I will not be among them. I explain in my latest essay why this is the first men’s World Cup I have not watched since 1978,l.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been removed from the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women!
This is a victory for Iranian revolutionaries who have been facing guns & bullets as they fight this gender apartheid state.

I wonder how the discussions would change if instead of a #WomensSafetySummit, we had a #MensViolenceSummit? Genuine question. How would our perspectives and solutions shift if we put men's violence in the foreground?
