After months of dithering and delay, Conservative pressure has finally forced Labour to approve Jackdaw.

This should be the start, not the end. Labour must approve Rosebank, end the ban on new drilling licences, and scrap the Energy Profits Levy

At around this time 60 years ago, heartbreakingly the village of Aberfan was changed forever. This devastating tragedy remains etched in our memories.

In just *3 months* under Burnham & Healey, the @BritishArmy have had their training cut for the rest of the 'training' year, & now 2bn worth of cuts to the already delayed BOXER programme.

Without providing the Repair & Recovery vehicle, BOXER can not & should not be deployed. Absolutely horrific.

Argentina threatens the Falkland Islands, and Putin’s navy is expanding its presence in the far north. To protect our interests, we need to have an ice patrol capability at both poles.

I challenged the government to set out their plans for the replacement of HMS Protector to allow us to have capabilities in both the north and the south.

Predictably, they had no answer.

The Government isn’t taking defence seriously.

For all their talk of increasing defence spending, they’re slashing key programmes, cutting £2 billion from Boxer and leaving 3 Div with a huge capability gap.

When I challenged the Government on this in Parliament they couldn’t explain how they plan to fix it.

Yet more serious questions for Wes Streeting as the new Defence Secretary.

The Armed Forces need to train to be operationally ready. This should be funded so it doesn’t have to be cut at a time when the threat has increased.
