My YA novel PRIVATE LABEL has been moved from the teen section to the adult section at @HamiltonEastPL. This hurts as an author, but it hurts even more as a teenager—to literally be erased. PRIVATE LABEL is about an Asian American teenage girl whose mom is going thru cancer. To move this book is to say these experiences don’t matter for teens. Their worry, their anxiety, their emotions, their very identity as young adults is not worthy of space.
So, when your 7yo already knows all the words to Death Wish…you buy him the ticket. (Among many other songs- for instance, he likes to request Molotov when he gets home from school…) We are winning at this parenting thing.
I suggest a NATIONAL STRIKE from all levels of education until federal laws occur. Not fighting back for the next victim of gun violence makes us part of the problem. #enoughisnow@AMarch4OurLives@Team_Enough Please SHARE!

BREAKING: The Indiana Senate just passed SB 12, a book banning bill opening school librarians and teachers up to felony prosecution for having material a parent finds objectionable.
SB 12 would have a chilling effect on free speech in schools. The bill now heads to the House.
.@Target raised its minimum wage for all employees to $24/hr & all who work as little as 24hrs/wk gets health insurance. Target will prove: 1. The labor problem isn't people are lazy, it's that they aren't paid enough. 2. More ppl will shop at a store that treats employees right.
If you’re going to quote & authentically honor my father on #MLKDay, commit to embracing a ‘World House’ perspective.
Determine how you’ll disrupt unjust systems & thinking with nonviolent strategy.

Make no excuses for hate.
When I hear men worshipping guns and talking about how there’s nothing that will stop them from defending their family, my mind goes to Naaman in the Bible. Do you remember Naaman? He was a great military leader, and he also had leprosy.

Indiana needs to stop talking about education as a worthless expenditure and focus on the investment benefits.
Childcare…PreK…K12…Higher Ed.
Yes- It’s expensive. The question should not be “How do we afford ….” but “How do we afford not to…”.
