Roy Keane reacting to Sir Alex Ferguson description of his performance against Juventus during the treble season.
Incredible the level of mentality he has! 🤯
Sometimes the hardest part of leadership is continuing when you can’t yet see the outcome.
Progress isn’t always visible… but it is happening.
Keep showing up. Keep doing the work. You will get there.
📘 Calm Leadership… out now
For leaders who want to stay grounded, stay in control and stay the course.

If you are planning Inset this week…
Get in, say what you have to say, do what you need to do, get out again.
Give the rest of the time for people to use.
Don’t complicate it.
Before spending hours telling teachers what new found research that they need to know about for their teaching, make sure the behaviour they are being confronted with is manageable enough that they can think about more than just surviving another day.
1. If you want children with strong mental health, don’t give them a phone.
2. If you want children with the ability to focus and a lasting attention span, don’t give them a phone.
3. If you want children who sleep soundly and wake up rested, don’t give them a phone.
4.If you want children to excel in school and stay engaged in learning, don’t give them a phone.
5. If you want children who explore the world with curiosity and wonder, don’t give them a phone.
6. If you want children protected from online bullying and toxic comparisons, don’t give them a phone.
7. If you want children who build real friendships, not digital followings, don’t give them a phone.
8. If you want children who aren’t addicted to dopamine-driven scrolling, don’t give them a phone.
9. If you want children to develop emotional resilience, not screen dependence, don’t give them a phone.
10. If you want children to grow up in the real world, not just the virtual one, don’t give them a phone.
We can acknowledge that some kids act out because of trauma. But acknowledgment isn’t the same as permission.
Boundaries are support. Discipline is care.
This is absurd. The vast majority of children can sit an exam with others, and the main reason why so many now think that we can't is because we tell them they can't.
Adults need to teach children that they *can* cope, because when we don't, we create children who believe they cannot cope with the normal spectrum of distress that life throws at us. This is crippling them, not kindness. This is not support; this is harm.
Another consequence of allowing disruptive students to stay in the classroom is that it sends the message to everyone in the room that education isn’t that important.
If a student misses 50, 60, 80 days of school, I’m sorry but they have no right to move onto the next grade and a school does them no good by promoting them
Going through exam papers as the teacher modelling how to do each question from start to finish is a waste of time unless the kids are going to use the model answer structure to complete similar questions independently.
