🚨JUST IN: Pep Guardiola reveals what Mikel Arteta did after Arsenal’s Carabao Cup defeat, calls it ‘incredible’
Pep Guardiola got the better of Mikel Arteta as Manchester City beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final.
After losing 2-0 to Manchester City, Arsenal had to walk up the Wembley stairs first to collect their Carabao Cup runners-up medals.
Once they came down, Pep Guardiola led his side up the stairs to collect their medals and, of course, the Carabao Cup.
Manchester City celebrated winning the cup for the fifth time in the last 10 years on the balcony and then came down to do the same on the pitch.
Mikel Arteta, his coaching staff, and the Arsenal players could’ve just gone back in as soon as they got their medals, but they stayed until City lifted the cup and came down.
The Manchester City boss noticed that, and he hailed and thanked Arteta for the gesture.
He told CBS Sports: “It’s against which team we won. This is the strongest one in Europe right now. Look at the Champions League and Premier League. To beat them in many aspects, it looks so difficult.
“They have proven it for many years, especially this season. Of course, Carabao Cup, five in 10 years, we’re happy, but especially against them (Arsenal).
“I have a huge respect. I want to say thank you because they waited, all the team, until we were down. That was an incredible gesture on the part of Mikel and their people.” Via [@afcnewsroom]
🚨📰 Toni Kroos shares his honest verdict on Arsenal’s style of play after watching them take on PSG.
Speaking to Luppen TV, Kroos said:
🗣️🎙️“You can also debate Arsenal’s style of play, because I think they have the players to play differently, too.
“Maybe not in the final against Paris, who are even better technically, but in general, I would have liked Arsenal at times to play a bit differently without leaving themselves exposed or taking too many risks.
“I understand the approach, but I do think they have the footballing quality to be a bit more offensive or vary their style, especially with players like Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Eze and Madueke. I think they do have the technical quality for that, particularly going forward.”
Questions have been raised over whether Arsenal’s struggles to retain possession were down to a lack of individual quality in attack or the result of Arteta’s tactical instructions. [afcnewsroom]

🚨📰NEW: Andrea Berta has reportedly identified the ideal signing to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad.
Morgan Rogers has emerged as one of Arsenal’s primary summer targets, with the Aston Villa attacker viewed as an ideal addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The 24-year-old has been among the Premier League’s standout attacking players over the past two seasons, and a move to the Emirates Stadium could now be on the horizon.
Arsenal believe Morgan Rogers versatility would make him a valuable addition to the squad, as he is capable of operating in multiple roles.
The Aston Villa attacker is capable of playing both as a number 10 and on the left wing, similar to Eberechi Eze.
Building a deep squad with players capable of covering multiple positions appears to be a key priority for Arteta, which is why Rogers is seen as an ideal fit. [afcnewsroom]

🚨📰NEW: What sets Arsenal’s transfer plans this summer apart from last year has now come to light.
Arsenal recorded a club-record net spend of £268 million last summer, with Andrea Berta overseeing the arrival of eight new signings to provide Mikel Arteta with his strongest squad yet.
That transfer window was focused on strengthening squad depth — raising the overall level of the team and building a group capable of competing on every front.
This summer, however, the approach has changed. A journalist with insight into the club’s thinking has now revealed exactly how Arsenal’s strategy differs.
Speaking on ESPN FC, James Olley shared his understanding of Arsenal’s plans based on Arteta’s post-Champions League final press conference and discussions with sources close to the club.
“What I took away from the press conference, and also just aligning that to some of the mood music around the club and speaking to other people involved, there’s a sense that they need to be ambitious this summer,” Olley said.
“And that I think is, if last summer was about squad depth — they signed eight players — this is about improving the starting 11. And I think this summer they need to be, to use Arteta’s words, ambitious.” [afcnewsroom]
Gooners, which position do you think Arsenal should prioritise to strengthen the starting XI this summer?
