They canceled comedians over jokes about Charlie Kirk.
But when it came to “I love Hitler” and slave rape jokes, JD Vance called them “just kids.”
This isn’t slip-of-the-tongue ignorance — it’s calculated permission.
The Right always finds grace for white supremacists. Never for Black or Jewish lives.
@GuntherEagleman Right. All students should think their female teachers are unwed and without children. What is wrong with my students knowing I’m married and have kids their age?
@paulbenedict7@Tracybirk73@VivekGRamaswamy There is good and bad. An accountability tool is necessary. Aside from the greed of testing and curriculum companies, there is bias in the testing that is done. There is more to a learner and more successes in a school year that can never be captured by standardized testing.
@Tracybirk73@paulbenedict7@VivekGRamaswamy ESSA requires yearly testing in grades 3-8 in ELA and math. A science assessment is required 3x. High school is the only point where requirements for standardized testing decrease.
@Tracybirk73@paulbenedict7@VivekGRamaswamy Most schools have lots of other assessments happening in between those larger tests. The issue with merit based pay or a supplemental bonus based on student achievement is that there are so many factors to consider.
@crisp_aw@paulbenedict7@VivekGRamaswamy High expectations& teaching rigor required are often deemed “unpopular”. Also, how does merit based pay work when working w/ students with disabilities? What universal standard is the pay based on? Standardized testing does not account of the entirety of learning
If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have deeply, deeply misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Four years ago I wrote my inaugural poem The Hill We Climb. Both when I wrote it and performed it, I did so while continuously reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King’s legacy. I was (and am) blown away by how my words reverberated around the world; if anything, it proved to me that we honor King’s dream, by daring to dream big, and by, most importantly, daring to dream together. Only then will the loving fantasies of our better nature transform into reality. The work and fight for the dream persists, and what’s more, it is not just a fight, but fate—that perhaps we are as destined for this time as it is destined for us. What a worthwhile, powerful calling only we can answer. Here with you in the hill and the climb, and whatever light lies beyond, whatever light lies within.

I recently read about man who collects pictures of hitters who had hit walk-off home runs. He said that the reason he did this is because this is how he views us entering heaven.
Look at the faces of his teammates waiting to welcome him home. Look at their excitement. They can’t wait to celebrate with him.
Look at the fans. Arms raised, big smiles, maybe even hugs for a perfect stranger.
Perhaps this is your first holiday season without someone important who is now waiting for you in heaven. Maybe it’s just another one with that big hole in your heart and an empty seat at the table. Either way, I hope you can find encouragement in this picture, what it represented to the man who collected it, and find joy this year. #heaven #hope #joy #grief
So many questions but one quick one- How does one ensure all of this will happen while dismantling the Department of Education? Wouldn’t you want to keep the DOE intact so you could control what was/wasn’t happening?
Donald Trump announces his 10-point plan to rebuild America's school system:
Among his promises is teach patriotism, bring back 'school prayer, and fire teachers who disagree.
This is how our freedom ends.
“He has been there since I was a little boy, throwing batting practice to me every day. This isn't my moment, it’s my dad’s moment."
- Freddie Freeman on running over to his dad after his walk-off grand slam home run to win Game 1 of the World Series
His handwriting on that star was a dagger in my heart. A perfect reminder that in a worse case scenario, I could be feet or yards away from him and unable to save him.
Today our county dismissed students 2 hours early. Great right? More time for teacher planning. Nope, our school was picked to use that time for a sound identification training.
As I listened to shots being fired in our teachers lounge, I locked eyes with a star on our cafeteria wall. Stars that kids wrote their names on during meet the teacher and were hung around our school. The star I spotted had my son’s name written on it.
