“Niggas looked up to Hov, I never looked up to them”
But a 25 year old Drake had the two biggest rappers run and drop a whole collab album cause they felt threatened by him.
Finally somebody else speaks about it, I’ve been saying this for years. The fact that 50 was shot the day after he recorded a freestyle, dissing Ja and Preme, is extremely significant. Especially considering it was his direct response to the Hit Factory “stabbing”
This the first time it’s ever been discussed publicly aside from me trying to share it through my socials, and Domination was actually there. Hopefully this will finally start to fill in the gap that every single “content creator” has failed to hit even once when telling 50’s story.
This is why the shift to everyone hating each other has been so hard for millennials.
Many of us went to diverse schools where everyone basically got along. Sure, jokes were made & bad people existed, but there was a general code of respect.
Social media + rage bait ruined that
When the Supreme Brooklyn store opened in 2017, I got a spot in line through their online entry two days before the opening.
I showed up at my time slot, waited in line for maybe 45 minutes, and purchased the store opening box logo t-shirt for $54.
Less than one hour later, I met up with a reseller at a nearby Starbucks and sold that t-shirt for $900 - a 1,567% return on my investment. For less than two hours of my life.
Resellers that evolved went from sneakers and streetwear to trading cards shamelessly. And it’s okay - sneaker culture knew what it was.
Resellers who don’t value their time or get information like the ones who showed up to this Swatch x Audemars Piguet release do not value their time and honestly, don’t understand how to do math.
Sadly, this is a sign of the times.
Drake had 3 weeks to coordinate 300 people, 75 projectors worth $15 million, Transport Canada, the City of Toronto, CBC's broadcast centre rooftop, fiber optic networks across 3 sites..
And turn the CN Tower into a block of ice.
Then dropped 3 albums at midnight.
The music industry hasn't seen a rollout like this. Ever.
