@MartinRafelt@CarlonCarpenter Football by definition is a positional game, using the term is like saying Im going to the shop for Fruit.....and apples.
Absolutely!! This is something people keep getting wrong.
Creativity emerges from boredom. So organisation and structure gives players a platform to within it create and interpret different behaviours and principles.
Martin O'Neill absolutely slated the use of xG and similar stats in football earlier in the season on talkSPORT. He felt too many coaches over think the game.
He then went into Celtic insisting he would simplify everything. Celtic improved.
The club still decided to go in a different direction and hired Wilfried Nancy. It was a disaster, big changes in approach and tactics cost Celtic.
Back came O'Neill, once again insisting his approach would be to keep things very simple. He ended up winning a double.
“This xG they speak of. It’s total nonsense. You’ve got to remember what the game is about, winning football matches, and that means scoring goals, not recording the expectation of them.
‘Expected goals’ have only come about in the last few years. It’s a clueless development. Some people just use these words to try to sound clever.”

“The Game model hysteria is one of the main reasons why most coaches lean on their subjective associations, the game does not have a model and neither you or your club have its own philosophy”

Good to get out yesterday to watch the @SWPL game Partick Thistle v Dundee Utd.
Having not been coaching this season, still trying to get my football fix.
Comfortable game for Thistle throughout.
We had a meeting last week with the FA. They recommended from the referees new decisions and rules.
From the managers and players, we have shared our concerns for many years now that there are too many games, the schedule is overcrowded, and it’s at a dangerous level for players physical and mental well-being.
Despite our previous feedbacks, they have now recommended for next season: longer games, more intensity, and less emotions to be shown by players. We just want to be in good condition on the pitch to give 100% to our club and fans. Why are our opinions not being heard?
As a player I feel very privileged to do the job I love every day but I feel these changes are damaging our game. We want to be at our maximum level, the best we can be and put on amazing performances for fans to celebrate every week.
I believe it is important that we, players and managers, highlight these important issues as we want to protect the game we love and give the fans our best.
Been a really enjoyable first 4 months working in @StMirrenAcad great group of people and the players have worked incredibly hard. Refresh time now for the new season! ⚽️
