@AmericanAir I am writing to express my concerns regarding the issues we faced on our return flight from Curacao on May 26. My spouse and I were returning from our honeymoon, and our flight, AA527, was scheduled to depart at 4:14 pm to Miami, Florida.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir All of these people just want to get home. You have sent some people home and left others. I have begged and pleaded all day with your airline.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir INSTEAD OF TRYING TO FIX THE BROKEN PLANE, SEND US A NEW ONE. We are tired, and we ALL want to go home. We have jobs and children.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir The flight that you ASSURED me would leave at 8:00 PM from Curacao has been cancelled. I’ve watched you allow so many other planes to leave before now but all of a sudden you cancel my flight???
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir This situation has caused us extreme distress and turned what was supposed to be a smooth ending to our perfect honeymoon into a complete disaster. This is extremely unacceptable, and we are asking that American Airlines make this right by getting us home safely.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir We are currently waiting in the airport with no reassurance that American Airlines will get us home today. We are concerned that American Airlines is uncertain about when we will be able to get us home.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir When the hotel finally found and called us a taxi, we had waited almost an hour to get in the taxi. The taxi arrived at 7:57 am. We arrived at the Curacao airport at 8:10 am, but there is no American Airlines staff here to check luggage or find us an earlier flight.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir However, the hotel staff informed us that we could only use the travel voucher with the original taxi driver from the previous night. Frustrated by the situation, we attempted to pay for a taxi out of our own pocket, but the hotel insisted that we use the voucher.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir This morning, May 27, we found out that our 11:00 am flight had been delayed to 4:00 pm and then again to 8:00 pm. Attempting to head to the airport early to see about an earlier flight, at 7:00 am, we asked the hotel staff to call us a taxi.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir This hotel and experience were not at all comparable to the Rif at Mangrove Beach Corendon All-Inclusive Resort by Hilton, where we stayed during our time on the island.
@AmericanAir The room had bugs, making us feel unsafe and causing us to stay awake all night in one area of the room. The rooms linen was also not clean.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir While we were grateful for the hotel accommodations and taxi fare provided, we had to run around the entire airport to get the voucher and our stay at the Wyndham hotel was extremely uncomfortable.
@AmericanAir@AmericanAir Upon our return to the airport, your staff informed us that we would be leaving the same day at 6:00 pm. This was then delayed to 7:00 pm, and finally, the flight was cancelled and rescheduled for 11:00 am on Monday, May 27.
@AmericanAir Our final destination is Charlotte, North Carolina. About 30 minutes into the flight, the pilot announced that we needed to return to Curacao due to an engine issue. We appreciated the safety precaution and had no complaints about this decision.
@AmericanAir@USDOT@USDOT I have contacted @AmericanAir more times than I can count, including at the airport here in Curacao, and no one is willing to provide me with answers as to what is happening.
@AmericanAir@USDOT I have been stranded, along with hundreds of others, since Sunday, May 26, because @AmericanAir refuses to send us a new airplane to Curacao.
