Last week, COMUnion students from the History of Animation and Entertainment Industry classes visited L.A. with Dr. Blair and Dr. Camp. Abby Porter, a junior digital media communications major said "Seeing the content of my class come to life as we toured L.A. was amazing."

“In Social Documentary we attempt to engage in real-life stories in and around our community," according to Professor Aaron Hardin. Davis Smith, ('23) created a project about dementia. The photos represent the struggle of those with dementia in making links to past experiences.

Tickets for Mainstage's newest play, Machinal, are now available! Sophomore public relations major Amy De Groot said "Being a part of Mainstage has served as an outlet for me to explore my creativity and build community with others who share this theater passion."

#WhereisCOMUnion? Sam Uhrig, a senior journalism major, has been working as an intern at the Jackson Energy Authority since the summer of 2023. "The skills I learned in my communications classes, propelled me toward success in my current field of work in a way I never expected."

#WhereisCOMUnion? On February 16th, COMUnion students Grayson Harris and Aubrey Etychison will be performing in Blank Slate Improv's show! Aubrey, a junior journalism major said “Blank Slate has provided me a unique opportunity in learning how to be a better storyteller."

SGA executive president and junior communication studies major Dannie Harrington discussed how communications classes prepared her for her presidency. "My COM classes have helped me better interact with those around me and to better love my neighbor in day-to-day conversations."

#WhereisCOMUnion? This summer Dawson Kinchen, a senior digital media communications major, interned at Bellevue Baptist Church. "I really enjoyed [the class] Directing for the Screen with Dr. Camp. I was able to take what I had learned there and apply it towards my internship."

Looking for a way to scratch your theatre itch? Alpha Psi Omega is a student-run theater organization on campus. Junior public relations major Olivia Wyatt is involved. "I love Alpha Psi Omega because it allows me to work on my craft and spread the love of theater to others!"

It's that time of year again! Cardinal and Cream released their Fall 2023 magazine. The magazine has won Best College Magazine 4 times at the Southeast Journalism Conference. If you missed a copy on Friday, you can grab one from the red boxes located in every building on campus!

Over Fall Break, Dr. Rachael Camp completed filming her newest project with COMUnion students and alumni. Her crew includes film studies senior Mary Hardy-Bos, COMUnion alumni Scott Lancaster ('94), and Skyler Norcom ('22). Watch for the project's release later this semester!

Congrats to Hannah Houser, freshman public relations major, who competed for the first time with Union's championship debate team this weekend. The team, which won the tournament, is a great opportunity for COMUnion students to hone the skills they've learned in class. @UUDebate
