UMG owns Drake’s publishing, per a signed declaration from the CEO of UMG. Under US copyright law, a songwriter can reclaim their publishing after 35 years through what’s called “termination rights.” In this respect, “perpetuity” means the lifetime of the copyright, not forever.
Jay Z and Kendrick Lamar are who Drake wishes to be.
He wants to be respected, revered and loved by hiphop.
Drake has spent his entire career chasing that level of respect, but respect can't be streamed, playlisted, or bought with marketing budgets.
Sadly for him, he's not like us. The Jig is Truly Up 🆙
@Belmark13@Bronx_Bully_B@latdaw2012 He still hasn’t proved that. Jay is independent and owns his masters (and has for years). Plus his is married to a woman the boy could never get.
Drake… has a lot of deals that he is stuck in. 😭
@Sports_On_Crack@Kurrco Literally the richest rapper in the world… who is married to a superstar.
Drake impregnated a porn star and has had nothing but 360 deals.
@DenzilLoma98962@dagirlfemalerap The bar went over your head, stupid.
Prince lived to be 57 years old (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016). Michael Jackson lived to be 50 years old (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009).
@Flamyswrld@deletedAt3@JauntyBarks@headnavy Because all that shit was trash and so is majority of Drakes music.
Drake fans are touting his achievements in a digital age when he blew up during streaming. He is the numbers guy in an age where the numbers can be padded and the “popularity” can be forced.
He isn’t MJ.
@Flamyswrld@deletedAt3@JauntyBarks@headnavy How many bots would it take for a song to go number one?
How many twitter groups talk about leaving their phone on mute to stream his songs?
Michael couldn’t do that, that’s why he can’t be replicated.
