Prime Minister Andy Burnham came to Lambeth yesterday to promote Sainsbury's workfare scheme for 10,000 young people to work for free in their supermarkets.

Sainsbury's cut 3000 jobs last year while simultaneously posting a £1 billion profit.

Strangely the Leader of Lambeth Council was not invited.

Lambeth's young people deserve better than this; quality apprenticeships and training that provide them with the skills, experience and pay to live and thrive in our borough.

Andy Burnham promised to "end neoliberalism" but supporting a scheme to provide free labour for Billion pound companies will only serve to perpetuate it.

Metropolitan Police Officer Charged With Three Counts of Rape.

Mohammad Adil Waheed, 23, a serving Metropolitan Police officer currently suspended from duty, has been charged with three counts of rape following an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team.

The charges relate to alleged off-duty offences involving a woman in July 2025. He is due to appear at St Albans Magistrates Court on Thursday, 27 August 2026.

Some good news.

The former police chief constable who banned Maccabi Tel Aviv fans is being investigated for gross misconduct.

Craig Guildford, who was on a £220,000 annual salary and will retire on a full pension, fabricated and exaggerated evidence to justify his ban on Israeli fans watching their team play Aston Villa.

This police force has clearly been corrupted by local Muslim activists to ban peace-loving Jews and avoid Muslim violence.

The entire West Midlands Police force needs investigating.
