Although I don’t consider myself an animal or dog person, I love my dog: Rustavius Alan Barrett. And here’s a pro-tip: marry someone who strongly encourages you to try something new. Sometimes you might actually like it. #Rusty
A few days ago I told you that my fourth graders think that my day revolves around them and our lunches. Today, it was confirmed that they are also quite territorial. They certainly don’t like it when I have to do things at other schools. #itsalwaysaboutthechildren
It is always encouraging to know that my passion for school psychology is felt by others, even after a relatively brief telephone call. And his choice of words—*preaching the good word*—is quite… interesting. 😊🤷🏿♂️
Every single day, I’m grateful.

…Not only are we closer to being colleagues, but I’m excited about their future in the field… I have full confidence in all of them. I’m in their corner, ensuring that they accomplish their goals. It’s only up from here! #itsalwaysaboutthechildren#todayinschoolpsychology
Lunch with fourth graders—Group #2—was today. When I met them in the cafeteria, one of them gave me this.
If you know me, you also know that I will have this forever.
The children will always be greatest.

Hung out with first year EdS and PhD students at THE Ohio State University and thoroughly enjoyed their questions and engagement. Because time flies, it’s sometimes hard to believe that I was in their shoes 24 years ago when I began my graduate studies at Lehigh University.
Victoria—you will continue to serve children well. I’m proud of your accomplishments and look forward to hearing about the great work you will do as a school counselor. Although you’re a Macaw now, as we used to say at The Grove, “Aim high, soar high.” #itsalwaysaboutthechildren2
Lunch is back in session!
I won’t have a blank dry erase board or chalkboard wall until summer 2027. And it wouldn’t have it any other way.
This is why a day without direct contact with students is wasted. #todayinschoolpsychology#itsalwaysaboutthechildren
A dear friend sent this to me… When I asked her to tell the person who was wearing the shirt that we’re friends, this was her response: “This lady is a… teacher at [insert school] who loved your PD and loved your motto.”
What’s the motto? #itsalwaysaboutthechildren
Well, the younger brother is now in kindergarten, and his sister is in third grade. Today, I saw them walking out of the car and into the school building together. Her words to him on the sidewalk, “Let’s go, bud.”
The children are the greatest every single time.
