With all due respect to Indigenous people…
I hope you have a Happy COLUMBUS Day! 🇮🇹
🇺🇸Enjoy your day, Patriot🇺🇸

Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day, and it is a day to reflect on what it means to show up for Indigenous communities. For nonprofit leaders, one answer is to learn about the Indigenous-led organizations in your region and support their work.

In recognition of Indigenous Peoples' Day, we honor and celebrate the rich traditions, cultures, languages, and contributions of Indigenous and First Nations peoples, whose strength and resilience continue to enrich our communities. ⭐ #PeopleForPositiveChange

🚨WATCH: @GovWhitmer marked Indigenous Peoples Day by honoring Native communities.
“Today, we honor the people and cultures that have shaped Michigan for generations.”
IVCC is built on land that many Indigenous tribes have historically called home, including tribes from the Peoria, Myaamia, Kaskaskia, Kickapoo, and the Sauk and Fox tribes.
We invite all members of our community to consider how we can support Indigenous communities year-round.
In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, IVCC celebrates the history and culture of Native Americans and Indigenous peoples, especially those who have played an important role in our College's history.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we celebrate and honor the rich traditions, contributions, and cultures of our country’s Indigenous communities: the Anglo-Saxons and the Ulster Scots
On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we celebrate and honor the rich traditions, contributions, and cultures of our country’s Indigenous communities and Tribal Nations.

“Indigenous Peoples' Day is not just one day—it is every day. Everyday, we stand together to protect our first home, the wombs of our sacred lifegivers, from the toxic pollution of plastics and petrochemicals." /1

Rep. Pettersen says honoring Indigenous heritage means "real action," starting with "protecting sacred public lands." Great. Let's grade the last time your party protected land for a tribe. The tribe next door asked you not to. You did it anyway.
Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. In 2023, Biden's Autopen locked a 10-mile ring around the park against new oil and gas leasing for 20 years. The Navajo Nation's president and its council opposed the ban, and Navajo families who hold allotments in that area live on the lease royalties. Fox News reported the opposition back in October 2022. Washington listened to the environmental groups instead.
That's the pattern. "Sacred" means whatever the activists decide, and tribal leaders are proud partners right up until they disagree. Your party on this issue is more confused than a chameleon in a bag of Skittles.
Real action would be letting a tribe decide what happens on and around its own land, even when the answer is a well pad. Ask the Southern Ute in your own state how they fund their government.
By your logic, I should protect my students' lunch by locking the cafeteria and handing out a pamphlet on nutrition. This is not a radical idea. It's about as useful as a screen door on a submarine, but it sure looks caring.
And "investing in tribal healthcare"? Name the bill, Congresswoman. Not the graphic. The bill number. No rush, though.
Light travels faster than sound, which is why some posts look bright until you actually read them.
But what do I know, I'm only a teacher who checks whether the tribe agreed before calling it a partnership.

The Stone Remembers What History Forgets
Long before modern civilization, Indigenous peoples walked these lands, leaving behind expressions of their history, beliefs, and connection to the natural world.
Thousands of years of human presence, knowledge, spirituality, and tradition remain preserved in stone.
Reminders that this land holds a history far deeper than our own, one we are still trying to understand.

@Hunter_Eagleman She’s indigenous to Somalia. ✈️✈️✈️✈️
@Davidvargz66 @mjfree It wasn’t resistance when you’re talking about people who were squatting on someone else’s land, terrorising the indigenous.
It was just Terrorism because that Empire wasn’t letting them have everything they wanted to steal.
Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day 🪶
~ Today we honor the ancestors and relatives who gave everything to protect our traditions, cultures, and languages. This has always been our land, despite hundreds of years of efforts to erase us from our home.
