I’m seeing a lot of Christian friends who aren’t typically political speak out about the racist Obama meme.

It’s telling that they’re doing so almost cautiously. They’re saying things like “I’m not normally political but I genuinely feel convicted to speak out…”

And look, I’m proud of them for doing so - it matters. But it shows you where the American church is that so many are scared to speak out against Trump because they know it will make their friends angry versus racism being what makes them angry.

Evangelicals are quick to speak out on trans issues - a group of people who aren’t hurting anyone and have virtually no impact on their lives, but true believers have to tip toe around calling out genuine sins that hurt people.

So I responded, “I think two adults who have never heard of the HOLOCAUST would be a lot scarier” which was the wrong answer.

The YP tried to convince me to apologize to the kids but I refused and eventually they had to let it go. I stopped going pretty soon after that anyway.

I got in huge trouble at a youth group once because I mentioned the Holocaust during a discussion and afterward two other teens came up to me and asked what I was talking about, and I was like, “you mean the Holocaust…?”
