“Morrell brings England to vibrant life, his characters feel so incredibly real, and you keep guessing at the killer’s identity but keep guessing wrong... Agatha Christie, eat your heart out.”

@leonard_apa There are some not-terrible-looking pirated versions a available on dvd. Also someone told me that it's also available for free on YouTube.
My spy thriller BROTHERHOOD OF THE ROSE is filled w/authentic CIA history & tradecraft. I based the mysterious man Eliot on real CIA counter-espionage master James Jesus Angleton—a friend of Kim Philby (of the notorious Cambridge Five) and later his enemy.

@skullsnflames76@joelansdale Brian, not sure If I mentioned the WRITING page of my website https://t.co/yoJSriYdZe, which has free downloadable writing essays plus a video of a one-hour talk I have to the Southwest Writers group.
@JohnTures2 Yes, and then suspicion turned toward him as being the mole. I used it as a plot element in my Brotherhood of the Rose. That character's FBI nemesis also has a real-life counterpart,
Deadline takes a hard look at where A.I. currently stands in Hollywood, reviewing “A.I. on the Lot,” a conference that started in 2023 with 600 attendees and has grown to a two-day event in 2026, with some 2,500 attendees on Amazon’s Culver City lot.

@JohnTures2 It's been too long since I saw THE GOOD SHEPHERD. Angleton, the head of CIA counter-espionage, was suspected by some of being a Soviet mole, a la Kim Philip in MI 6. I took my fictional version in that direction.
@SheilaFelder3 Thanks. It was on e of the first spy novels to blend the strength of the UK spy novel (authentic spycraft) with the strength of the US spy novel (action). Until then, those elements had mostly been separate,
@leonard_apa Hi, Lenny. There wasn't a full-length dvd of BROTHERHOOD OF THE ROSE NBC miniseries that I'm aware of, but therefore are pirated copies for sale on the internet. The trick is to make sure it's full length. A VHS tape reduced the 4 hours to 2.
I’m a huge fan of Stephen Sondheim so his new biography, STEPHEN SONDHEIM: Art Isn’t Easy, by Daniel Okrent, is on my summer reading list. “The book is brimming with delicious incident,” writes Emma Brockes in this rave review for The Guardian.
