@etrithon Like yes OMG that apology HAD to be on screen. They’re all buddy buddy now and just a few months back he legit SA ed her ?????? This might confuse younger audiences and set wrong standards. It was pivotal that they made a point of this but they brushed it off for plot convenience
it's honestly so easy to make ppl angry, you just have to say:
"Marinette is a traumatized teenager whose actions can be explained through the lens of trauma, but that doesn't justify her behavi—"
& ppl will immediately jump in with something like:
"why are you defending her? 😠 she's a criminal who needs to suffer and be punished for what she's doing!!!! 😡she's the real villain! she's a stalker! 🤬🤬 stOP JuSTiFyIgG hER! 🤬🤬🤬🤬"
if you've seen any of my tweets abt Marinette and the whole lie situation you'll know that the LAST THING I do is justify her actions lololol
but as a psychologist, I'm also not going to reduce her behavior to something as simplistic as "she's doing everything for a MAN" bc that's basically taking a massive psychological conflict and reducing it to a male-centered issue, which starts drifting into misogynistic territory
you can acknowledge that trauma helps EXPLAIN someone's behavior while also recognizing that they're still RESPONSIBLE for the consequences of their actions, those two things are not mutually exclusive
pd. pretty picture of her to make u even angrier!
even with scenes like this there are ppl who genuinely think Marinette is the devil incarnate lmaooo she's literally just a girl who's willing to do anything, at any cost, to protect the person she loves most and, unfortunately, she doesn't have the emotional tools to do it in a healthy, non-hurtful way (& sometimes in ways that are almost self-destructive)
she's trying her best, even when her actions aren't always the best :(

If Adrien learns why Ladybug (Marinette) lied to the public about his father's actions as Monarch, the fallout would likely trigger deep emotional trauma and massive shifts in their dynamic. 🧵
