🇺🇸 National Navajo Code Talkers Day — Honoring the Unbreakable Code 🪶

Today, August 14, we honor the Navajo Code Talkers, whose courage, ingenuity, and service helped change the course of World War II.

In 1942, the U.S. Marine Corps began recruiting Navajo Marines to develop a military communications code based on the Navajo language. The code became legendary for its speed, complexity, and effectiveness—and it was never broken by the enemy.

Today marks 84 years since the creation of the Navajo Code Talkers program (1942–2026).

I especially want to remember John Kinsel Sr., a member of the second group trained as Navajo Code Talkers. He served with the 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, and saw combat at Bougainville, Guam, and Iwo Jima.

At Iwo Jima, Kinsel was wounded in combat on March 2, 1945. He later received the Purple Heart and, along with his fellow Navajo Code Talkers, was recognized with the Congressional Silver Medal for his extraordinary service.

John Kinsel Sr. passed away on October 19, 2024, at the remarkable age of 107.

For decades, the contributions of these Marines remained classified. Today, we have the responsibility to make sure their courage, their language, and their sacrifices are never forgotten.

To every Navajo Code Talker who served our nation: thank you.

Your words became a weapon the enemy could not break.
Your service helped protect countless American lives.
Your legacy belongs forever in American history.

Gun rights advocates are celebrating a "huge" legal win after a judge ruled a firearms restriction unconstitutional.

Gun Owners of America and Silencer Shop have notified the Trump administration that they plan to begin transfers without the federal registration and approval process.
